Hey all, it's been a month since I started working as a Content Marketer at an early-stage startup. It's a check-in bot for MS teams and Slack to reduce and replace meetings+ and increase employee productivity. Currently, there are two of us on the marketing team. We've doubled down on LinkedIn and would like to add blogs in the next month or so+build a distribution system. To give you more context: • We are primarily content-led. • We are looking to bring in a couple of more people to the marketing team. (Hiring has been challenging) • I've never driven growth through content. This will be my first time. What do you folks suggest would be the best direction to take to acquire users through content? I would love some tactical advice and guidance. :') 💖

@enough-psychiatrist-7904, so sad I'm just seeing this. Here's an how to article from Content Hacker: https://contenthacker.com/how-to-start-a-coaching-business/ Here's one from Grizzle: https://www.grizzle.io/blog/creativity-in-content-marketing The founders of these marketing agencies are credited as authors. However, Tom's started with storytelling, Julia's post started with statistics. There are more links in Julia's work than Tom's. Their beliefs are different although the content goal is the same. This is why I advised reeducating the team to let them know what the agency's "stuff" is.

Friends, I’m sure this has been asked before (please point me to the thread if so) but anyone have/work with an SEO agency (strategy, possibly content execution, maybe technical and/or backlinking) they recommend/love? Looking for recos from in-house folks with a semi-small content outfit that have leaned on someone else to help scale SEO-focused content strategy/execution. 🙏

For those of you writing content by/for executives, have you tried using AI tools? How did it work out? Do you have any concerns about using AI for thought leadership content? Asking because I'd like to start a thought leadership content service for select industry niches, and I'm considering whether AI-assisted writing would be a selling point (lower price, faster output, etc.) or a detractor (poor originality, IP concerns, penalties in search, etc.)

Hi everyone! So I'm looking to fix up my pricing in social media management, especially when I'm managing a single platform like just LinkedIn or just Instagram. So quick question please, how much do you charge a month to manage a client's Linkedin page please? Or even just Instagram? Thank you!

Looking for examples of successful B2B interview series with industry experts — not necessarily people who are users of your product. They will touch on how they and others might use your product. For context, I work at a company that has developed a developer platform for AI virtual characters for video games (think natural language processing and other AI making them so you can have ongoing conversations with them that no one has scripted and which seem like you're talking to a real person). As we are still in beta and video game production cycles take years, no one will have made a game with our software. But we will be interviewing folks who have tested it out. We could technically do something innovative like do a double interview with the developer and a character they've created. But I'd love to see samples of successful interview series!

Question: what is your newsletter conversion rate from people visiting your blog part of the website (so excluding people signing up for webinars, book a demo, free account/free trial etc... but purely someone reading a blog post and then signing up for your newsletter from a CTA on that page)? Just trying to get some benchmarking for a revamp project we're starting. For us right now, depends on the market (since we have 5 different newsletters) but fluctuates between 0,15% to 0,22%. We don't use pop ups or anything other than a sign up bar at the very bottom of the blog post.

THere's been a lot of conversation about AI and writing in this community. I've been working with Writer.com for a few months, and I'd just like to provide some observations. Feel free to debate/discuss with me in thread or in DM, whichever you prefer. These observations are in no particular order and (mostly) relate to my experiences with Writer.com. Anyone else who uses other software is free to add in their 2c for perspective • AI can sometimes make unsubstantiated claims. I have witnessed at least 3 articles where it mentions a statistic (e.g. 58% of sales people believe X), but doesn't include a link or where it pulled that info, and so I have to track it down myself. Often leads nowhere, as the AI seemingly generated that statistic at random • It has trouble with product comparison articles, as it does not know your product nor that of competitors. It doesn't know which features are important, or your target market. It doesn't know that you prefer enterprise customers over SMB, and even if you include the keyword "enterprise" in there it will sometimes drop SMB just because its mentioned a lot online. Note that we had been offered a premium template that introduced actual machine learning that would learn more about your business the more info you feed into it, but it was a higher tier and we didn't have the budget • If you stress it out by making it cover a really niche topic the AI may get repetitive and repeat the same paragraph multiple times in the same article with minor variations. • I can't use the AI with articles where I have a source or am working off an interview, because there's no way to include that info in the builder. It just writes based on what it sees off the net. I have to write interview-based articles from scratch • Grammar is always impeccable • Building an article is a multi-step process. First you have to run the headline builder. Then you have to run the outline builder. Then you take the suggestions from the outline builder and put it in the article builder. Still faster than waiting for a writer to finish a first draft. • The AI seems to work best when writing articles about 1) general knowledge topics 2) topics that already have a lot of coverage 3) articles that appeal to wide audiences • When I stick to those topics, the content can be amazing. It suggests subheads that never would've occurred to me before and those articles require minimal editing on my part ** Update: Writer.com gave me Beta access to something they're working on called a Blog Builder, which is pretty cool. It basically condenses the blog creation process so that you no longer have to run multiple builders one after the other. Just put the seed info into the Blog Builder template and it generates the finished article a few seconds later.

conclusion: it's still useful and better than an agency writer in some situations, but still very, very, raw and needs a lot of development before it can start truly overtaking the industry

Question: How can content ICs and leaders accelerate their professional development? I've been interviewing a bunch of successful content leaders recently and something that struck me is that they all thought about professional development. One built what she called a "Personal Board of Advisors," which is basically 6-10 people who help/advise/hold you to account. Another kept taking community college courses, adding general business acumen and even contract law. A third pitched "skill swaps" with other specialists. She taught them to write better and they taught her the fundamentals of demand gen/product marketing/etc. It's something I'm thinking about for myself so I'm curious what's worked for everyone else.

Made the top of Hacker News for content I wrote for a client today. And I don't know anyone who knows what a thrill that is so just going to post it here in case someone gets it. (Essentially, it usually equals thousands of views for your article, back links and social shares. And it's hard)

One of our portfolio companies, which is a B2B SaaS company, has found that working directly with with influencers on linkedin to do posts is working well. They are looking to identify more people in that space with over 10k followers. a) does anyone in here qualify and want to raise their hand and or b) might someone want to help source and connect them with the right set?

Hey! I’m looking for an example of a B2B company that offers a product demo in the form of a video, can be (partially) gated, but still the video should show in-browser, instead of having to ‘book a call’ to get the demo. Any companies come to mind?

Hi all, I'm building a scope of work for SEO writers for the B2B space (non-technical) and looking for guidance on the typical cost for a 1,000-1,500 word article. What's the typical cost? Do SEO writers typically charge a project rate (per article) or hourly rate? If hourly, is 3-4 hours a reasonable estimate for content creation plus one round of feedback, assuming we're providing the keywords and top ranking URLs.

tl:dr - curious for where y'all draw the line for sales messaging in longform, editorial-style thought leadership pieces. background i work for a b2b saas company in healthcare technology and we recently went through a merger with two sister companies that hold pretty diametrically opposed views from me on content marketing. imho, any content presented in our thought leadership in format (i.e., longform editorial-style article) should be product-agnostic, regardless of where it lives. if you want product specifics, make a product sheet. but, i just edited a BOFU article with 15 mentions of our company in it -- and i almost threw up. again, i'm strongly in the product agnostic camp for our thought leadership, but my product marketing counterparts argue that if it's paid, gated, on a landing page or printed as a pdf for our sales team, it doesn't matter what the format is.
