Do you know the number 1 pain point and metric for any of these roles? 1. VP Product 2. VP Sales 3. VP Marketing 4. VP Growth Do you work in one of these roles / have them report to you? Any insights would be really helpful.

Putting this here, though it’s not a perfect fit for the channel. Verblio lost a rockstar salesperson earlier this year and we're having trouble replacing her - in part because it’s not a traditional sales role. • There’s inbound and outbound work involved • The role involves “selling” to content marketers - who are wise in the ways of sales tactics (and avoid being too salesy in their own work) • There’s some demand gen involved in the role as well • Very small sales team We keep wondering if we should really just be looking for “the world’s most extraverted content marketer” instead of posting a sales role. Ultimately this person’s job is relationship building with other content marketers - we aren’t looking for someone to spam LI inboxes and run through an obnoxious pitch deck. • Does “the world’s most extraverted content marketer” even exist? • Is this the person we should look for? • Are we just barking up the wrong tree entirely? Thanks to any/all who are willing to weigh in on sales in a content marketing community 🙏🏻

Does anyone have career tracks for the content folks at your org that you can share? Basically my company has levels across the company that all the positions map to, and I'm trying to define what a content person should be accomplishing/owning at each level. Would love to see any via DM and I can keep them confidential! Also, I was recently talking to someone about how defined career tracks can be a limiting factor on growth and promos. If you have thoughts on that as well, would also be happy to hear them 🙂

Hi friends. What are your favorite content marketing interview questions you've been asked (or go-to questions you ask when hiring)? It's been a while since I've been on the hiring side so I want to refresh my list.

I’m starting a weekly series called Remote Manager Circle. Any of you have learnings or stories about managing (remote) teams you want to share? Would love to do have you on 🙂

Wondering if y'all have suggestions for a good, basic writing for SEO course? I help run a small editorial agency that does a ton of thought leadership content, as well as ESG/DEI reports. Our team is mostly made up of former journalists. Our clients (largely financial services, plus some tech, health care, other corporate) are starting to dip their toes into SEO-driven content, and the sophistication / usefulness of their briefs varies wildly. I'd love to get our team some basic grounding in writing for SEO to help buttress the less-than-stellar briefs and just establish a common understanding. I found this HubSpot course -- any other suggestions?

Hi! Are there any virtual meetups for director-level folks within this group? Would love the chance to chat with other mid-level people managers, talk about things like org structure, growing team skills, reporting to senior leadership, etc.

Hi Everyone, Hope you're all having a nice end to the week. I had a question in terms of freelancers and contractors. We're looking to possibly bring a writer or two in house on a part-time basis. But the two candidates write for our competition. As freelancers, I feel it's fair game for them to write for whomever they want. But if they're in-house, what kind of restrictions would be fair or best practice? Thanks in advance for your time and advice! (Will also post in #work-freelance too in case that's a better spot)

Hello! I've been really struggling with my current content workload and am curious of other people's weekly output. I am responsible for our • content planning • bi-monthly content reporting. In addition to that, here's my weekly output that I do myself: • weekly content report (internal) • 2-3 social media posts • 1 blog post (usually less than 1,000 words and not SEO researched) • 1 email For any visual assets for these, I'm supposed to make a design brief and submit it to our designers, but I usually end up doing it myself because I can't always get them in on time. In addition to those given weekly items, I'm always working on: • some element of a monthly asset: either writing the content for it, drafting briefs for creative and landing pages or making graphics myself, creating an email nurture series, etc. To top that off, I usually have to do each of these twice because my boss always gives paragraphs of feedback on every single thing. Do you guys think this is a reasonable workload? I finish things up the week of and my boss (CMO) seems upset that I'm not further ahead and I'm like.........................💀

Hi Folks, hope you're all having a nice week. Was wondering if anyone had frameworks they'd be willing to share on evaluating their content team? Looking for some kind of rubric for measuring writers and editors. I have a coupe of ideas on what I'm going to use (meeting goals, filing on time, quality, etc.) but would welcome a chance to see what's worked for others. Thanks in advance!!

Hey non-specific gender people How would you asses a content manager in a job interview in terms of: • How well organized she is • How much she understands what is quality texts and what is garbage • How well she does research • How creative she is • How much she knows about content strategy • How much she knows about measurement • How well she networks and outreaches • How well she knows to develop workflows and the content operation

What title would you give to someone who started initially as a liason between clients and other internal team members ("Content Manager") but who's role also encompasses being who other departments ultimately report to for day-to-day help with decision making and executing on tasks?

do any of you have examples of role progression in the content space? a lot of my content strategists are complaining that they don't have the word "senior" in their title but i don't feel confident in saying if they are or aren't at that level yet

Hi good people, I need to develop SOPs for content planning and editing — I’m delegating writing to 3 writers and this is my first time defining the workflow. Does anyone have a template or reference you recommend for outlining content workflows with contract writers?

Hello Folks, I’ve been interacting with a lot of new writers recently, and many of them have trouble recognizing good content. It’s hard to explain how to write good content until people value it. Has anyone faced this issue. If yes, how did you solve it? Thanks in advance
