Hi content SEO folks 👋 There are a lot of best practices/checklists for content SEO on the web. But a lot has changed in the last few months (Google's helpful content update, etc). Curious, what are the important 🆕 content SEO pointers / best practices you follow now? Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Hi SEO folks! I'm currently in the process of doing keyword research for the site I'm starting. I have my filters set for volume of 1,000 to 100,000 with the keyword difficulty at 0-40 which Semrush says is still relatively easy to compete for. That said, is it feasible for a new site to even look at keywords with a difficulty of near 40? Or should I look at much lower difficulty keywords?

Ahrefs question for the gang: Is this a common problem/can i filter out existing internal links on the ahrefs link opportunity tool? I'm ten links in and they all already exist on the suggested page, with the suggested keyword, and with the suggested anchor text.

I think text is getting less important as Google gets better. But it’s still worth testing. Especially when the page is not in English, because that’s like traveling back in time as far as SEO tactics go. The results I’ve seen from adding text to category pages is not so much in improving rankings for the main keyword, but getting more impressions/clicks with a wider variety of search terms. In other words, you are broadening your relevance to more specific terms. Most ecommerce sites have no category text though. There are just too many pages to manage and writing those texts tends to not be the top priority.

Hi Folks, This could have gone in the strategy channel as well but figured here works as well...we write various pieces of blog content that we then use in re-marketing efforts to prospects within our database. Currently, our blog articles have the date they were published, meaning they are eventually going to be outdated (not necessarily in terms of the advice/content they include, although you could make the argument they could always be updated with new content/perspective) yet we will continue to send them to new prospects in our database. One option would be to go through the (time-intensive) process of updating them with new content (it's worth noting we've deployed a hub & spoke strategy and are essentially spinning off similar content pieces just geared towards various audience segments) and re-publishing them (recognizing we would need to continue doing this at least annually). Another option would be to simply re-publish the blog posts to a newer date (without updating the content). Another options would be to remove the date entirely from our blog posts. I'm sure there are other options we haven't thought of, but I'm curious what others are doing, and also curious if there are performance (SEO implications, engagement, etc.) concerns for taking one path rather than others? For example, if we took the path of least resistance and removed the date from our blog, would that negatively impact our organic rankings? Or hurt visitor metrics (i.e. they can't find how recent the data is, balk and bounce)?

Hi friends. If you've noticed a drop in YoY organic traffic, what all would you check to determine the potential causes? Of course, there are things like a decrease in product category demand since the height of COVID, as well as more competitors in the space. So certainly those are things that can pull organic traffic away. But I'm curious what else I should dig into to start coming up with a plan to at least recapture some of that traffic. I know this is a pandora's box and it could be any number of things, but I'm wondering if there are at least some things I should prioritize while I explore this.

Hey all, I have a question about page speed optimization. 1. Have you have any ideas on caching time for HTML and Js files? [Is it better to have a CDN to do the caching or we do it manually by adding caching headers] 2. And do you have any idea on how we can increase the caching time of the scripts like GA, GTM, and similar third-party scripts.

Hi all, I am using google keyword planner for keyword research. I am also referring some third party tools not semrush or ahrefs because they are costly. Should I trust google keyword planner or third party tools? I see low competition keywords having high competition in third party tools and vice versa. Any suggestions?

For anyone who works for or runs an SEO agency: If you're working with a company that already has an SEO expert in-house and high organic performance, how do you manage that relationship? Or are you typically brought in to companies that don't have anyone focused on SEO internally and need help boosting organic performance?

Has anyone experienced an issues with their review sites after Google's September 27th update for product reviews? I have a friend who had a bunch of content go from the 1-4 position in Google for that keyword to not even making the 100th position. His traffic was cut from 30,000 visits a day to 15,000. Original content, comprehensive content, optimized for SEO according to the latest Google 'advice'. Trying to find out if anyone knows anything that has worked with this particular update to product review rankings.

I ran into a situation where a writer was linking to the same article twice in different places in a draft. I know it’s not best practice, but this led me to wonder, what are the real consequences (SEO-wise) of linking to the same URL twice in an article? Does it confuse Google or make the UX bad?

Hi folks, quick question: If there are 2 common ways to write a phrase (eg. 'pay per call' and 'pay-per-call' with dashes), is it necessary to have both in a resource you are trying to rank for? In the spirit of writing content for people, not search engines, it would seem remaining consistent and just using one instance would be better. But I'm curious if we should pepper in both?

Hey guys 👋 I am here again, looking for some help. So we are building a platform to help marketers accelerate SEO content performance. Under one roof, you will get all keyword details, topic suggestions, an AI-writing assistant to write on those topics, publish it to CMS, and analytics on their performance. Since this is in the BETA stage looking for marketers like you to have a look at it and share your thoughts on how this tool should evolve and what is missing in the current stack. If this sounds exciting, please book a timeslot through this calendly link. Looking forward to connecting with you.

When writing blog posts how do you guys decide whether to write blog post targeting specific keywords or not? Lets say KWD < 20 with volume 500-1k. Just with these 2 parameters would you take a decision on whether to write blog post or not? What are other factors one should consider? If KWD is very low and volume is decent but there are some other websites in SERP overview with higher DA and backlinks in that case should we drop the idea of writing blog post for that particular keyword? Any suggestions? I am new to SEO and wanted to know what all factors should I consider before writing blog post targeting specific keywords. Thanks

Looking for some content ideas to meaningfully repurpose “Podcasts”, “Interviews”, “Youtube videos” etc into written content for SEO. Maybe even create a new page type altogether. Has someone been successful with it? Are there any good case studies/ Saas companies that are great at repurposing other formats of content for SEO & winning the game? (Workflows, Do’s & Don’ts, Things to remember anything that could help scale SEO traffic is appreciated?) P.s- Already working on programmatic SEO, what other ammo do I have left with me? @plain-terabyte-45517 @stocky-zebra-68352 @rapid-whale-45150 Any 2 cents around this?

I'm a writer and not an SEO expert by any means, but I'm tasked with coming up with a keyword to target for a blog post I'm writing. My client has given me a really broad topic, and I'm finding the keyword research part really tricky because anything that's specific enough for a small site to actually rank for is a totally different topic. Is it best practice for SEO to just avoid writing about anything that's not super narrow in focus (unless you're a major site with high domain authority)? In the future, is it better to come up with a keyword first, before the topic, rather than try to find a keyword that works for a topic? I'm thinking yes... 🤦‍♀️ Appreciate any guidance here!

Hi everyone, I'm currently taking HubSpot’s Content marketing course and have a question about something I find confusing. HubSpot explains that they improved their SEO performance by focusing on building topical relevance (I.e using topic clusters). Meaning they focused on topics they wanted to rank for rather than keywords. I know HubSpot spent lots of resources to make this work. So, is this a strategy that works best for bigger companies? How do you manage ensuring that you rank for several topics when you don't have as much resources? Does this require niching down? Thanks in advance for your responses. 🙂
