@ranaq How should one scale themselves up in the field of people analytics? What is a good place to start for one to contribute to the team in deriving such insights and building an analytics mindset?

Hey @ranaq 1. What are some of the parameters that we can use to evaluate performance of Tech and Product Teams? For the purpose of Appraisals, Feedback and Performance Reviews 2. How do we quantify the metrics of Tech and Product Teams for the same purpose mentioned above ?

@ranaq Thank you for doing this AMA. My question: What are the metrics we should start capturing in the hiring/recruitment data of the company? And going forward what could be the main focus point among the metrics we should strive to achieve first or which could increase our hiring efficiency?

Hi @ranaq thanks a lot for doing this. The first 90 days of a new hire are the most critical. 1. Who should own this experience? HR or the Manager - what should be the role of both these stakeholders? 2. What quantifiable metrics are important to track in the new hire journey?

Hi @ranaq Thank you for the AMA. We are a growing product based company and hence my questions are heavily focused on talent planning and forecasting. 1. How do organisations carry out people structuring % wise for a product company? (Product+Tech - Sales+KAM - Business Enablement - Leadership) 2. How should Overall people budget and new hiring budget be calculated? What % of revenue goes into people? 3. How do we decide the ideal size - Sales team to Customer Success to Product Support 4. What would be an Ideal KAM size- should it be based on revenue- what should be the ideal portfolio value in terms of both number and $ value. 5. In a Business enablement team- what % of overall people v/s % of overall cost? 6. What is an ideal manager to team ratio? 7. What are the hiring trends we see for the year since there is a market slowdown? 8. In cases of limited talent hiring budget, how to go about prioritising roles?

Hi @ranaq, I think I am just in time to ask a question. How do you see Performance Review evolve as an approach. Taking this further from the point you recently brought on LinkedIn (link for reference of the group https://www.linkedin.com/posts/ranaq_okrs-pms-performance-activity-6950318131152072704-fzhK?utm_source=linkedin_share&utm_medium=member_desktop_web) . Are we reaching a stage (if not already there), where Performance Review will become an archaic process, given the amount of automation and analytics is at play.

For us, we do use OKRs for performance review - set them as goals in the system and track 6 months through mid-year review and annual. Honestly - it's my first experience with OKR since we used to use KPIs in my past organization. It makes sense if OKRs are used org wise even at department/leadership level to measure overall performance.

Thank you Sarang! We don't want to use OKRs for performance review but need some more light on how and what we should do.

Hi everyone (<!channel>) 👋 I’m delighted to be able to welcome Manish Kumar (@Manish kumar), People & Culture Lead at flint (Ex- Unacademy and WhiteHat Jr) to answer all of your questions. 🎇 Here’s how this session will work: • Join us live on #expert-ama during the session from 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday, August 25 (tomorrow), and ask your questions • Leave your questions right here in the #expert-ama channel already so that Manish can answer them tomorrow Here are some topics you might like to ask Manish questions about: 1️⃣ Building teams and setting up HR initiatives from the ground up 😇 In his current role at Flint (a crypto startup), Manish has been supporting the organisation with its HR processes during its early stages, helps them recruit their leadership teams, and additionally has the responsibilities of all in-house processes as well. 2️⃣ Scaling HR processes 🛠️ Having spent 6 years working at startups, Manish knows first-hand what going through a hyper-growth scaling phase feels like and what’s required of HR during that time. 3️⃣ Building low-cost Employee engagement strategies 💻 Manish understands the challenges of creating a low cost yet effective employee engagement program. He experimented, failed, learned, iterated & figured it out. Maybe you have questions about how to implement the same in your company? 4️⃣ … And anything else! ❓ You can ask Manish anything you like about his career, his previous experience, how he would approach a challenge you’re facing, or anything else 🙂. Looking forward to seeing your questions 💥 @Manish kumar over to you. Thanks so much for being here for the AMA 🙌

💬 My question to Manish - Since you’ve worked at startups as large as Unacademy (6000+ employees) and startups as small as Flint (29 employees). what are some of the major differences that you have seen in the HR/People Ops challenges within small vs large businesses wrt: • Recruiting • Onboarding • Employee engagement • Rewards & Recognition • Career growth/ L&D
