    For people in probation will they be eligible for all kinds of leaves because as per shops and estblishment act probation period they are considered as employees may not be permanent employees.     What are the best practices for setting goals for engineers woking on client projects in an IT services company? Not setting goals makes it difficult to compare performance while giving bonus and hikes and setting goals is pointless as they primaily work on client demands

    @Fraternity- I am part of a start up who has carried out hiring at any level and cost to meet their requirements. With no prior HR in the company to guide them this hap hazard hiring has taken place. Now, I have joined the company and I find it all to be a jiig saw puzzle for the misfits that has taken place. We need to set the basics right and company is not ready to invest in seeking external professional help to streamline the situation. I approach you all with a hope to help me guide with the document or structure being followed in your company, I have got back to work after a 10 long year gap, so obviously I am a little unaware of the current market trends. What am I looking for? Structure pertaining to Designations, levels, mapping years of experience along with the salary range. I am used to the culture of grade structuring but what we are looking for SDE I, II, III with what their role should encompass. This will help me set a bench mark and take it forward in carrying out the corrections (if required) for existing team and be able to do the right hiring going forward. Our company is into product and services both. Would appreciate your help.

    Hey everyone, Just wanted a 2nd opinion on the below -

    If an employee has resigned while being on Maternity leave and timed it so that the leaves and notice ends together, can we ask them to come back and serve their notice period after their leaves for valid reasons?
    
    As far as I understand any kind of leave (paid or unpaid) cannot be considered as notice period. It's on the discretion of the employer to consider it or not. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.
