I'm not ready to deploy SIMP stack.. so nexcess-auditd seems another most popular one..

I understand the SIMP stack concern, but I think you don't need too much for their auditd module

well.. simp depends on simplib -> simpkv, which is ok-ish.. as long as I don't want syslog.. otherwise it'll explode 🙂

but maybe I'll try to update nexcess one instead

ah, btw.. wrt dropping EOL OSes/adding new OSes - is it better to do in different PRs or just different commits in one PR is ok?

IIRC, it was something regarding changelog

different PRs are better. so one shows up as an enhancement in the changelog, the other one as a breaking change
  • v

    11/07/2024, 9:03 AM
and that makes it easier to mention the OS versions in the PR title
  • v

the goal should be that a user reads the changelog and knows if their OS is supported or not. Without reading the actual PR diffs, just the changelog

bastelfreak: yes, though I think I saw a few improvements

for example, they only show you the allowed ways to merge and no longer the disabled ones

    and explicitly list failed jobs

the checks are indeed also a bit different and it's probably an improvement

order of drop/add PR doesn't matter, right?
  • v

so if the PR that removes versions would remove the whole OS, I provide that second

just to keep the diff in the metadata.json shorter, but it doesn't make a difference

bastelfreak: colleague points out misleading text in gitlab_ci_runner's README, "To use the Gitlab CI runners it is required to have the puppetlabs/docker module." - it is only required if you want to use docker executor, surely?
