it would still be great if Libera and Matrix were still bridged from the server side because that would be way nicer than bots

matterbridge can also bridge irc to matrix, but I haven't used that

but if someone has the time to investigate matrix and a possible bridge or migration to it, that would be great

I'd be open to that if it works on our network

if your org migrates to microsoft teams or mattermost or rocketchat, they will shutdown slack as well? there is no guarantee that you can acccess the community from a work device if it's not explicitly on an allow list

Release prep on a few elastic modules. https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-logstash/pull/466 https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-kibana/pull/107 https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-elasticsearch/pull/1261 Can I use the Release workflow to do the release rather than doing it locally?

you will have to run the
    rake release
task locally, that's not in a github action yet :(

matrix seems to be the new standard. My only expectation for a Slack replacement is that I don't want another proprietary solution. We got yanked around by Slack way too much and I have no reason to believe that Discord wouldn't do the same.

Thank Canonical for that, mostly - Ubuntu is (or at least, was) one of the only distros that was really desktop-usable. I used to go back and forth between that and Fedora, but Ubuntu was far enough ahead that it got the lion's share of the development work aimed in a Debian-ward direction.

I would like to think the FOSS community could handle it better now, but there were (and probably still are) enough grognards flouncing about that still insisted the average user should be able to read code, nevermind docs, and refused to acknowledge the reality of the budding mobile-first world or put enough polish on anything to even remotely match the ease of use and discoverability that those frameworks have produced that they kinda forced out any talent that would've been interested in making the Linux desktop a livable ecosystem.

Entirely unrelated, but: if anyone's still around and has time, have a look at https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-bareos/pull/170 - still going on the
