well, it was mostly extracted from our own job profiles and now I use it as a simple CI tool

and the puppetlabs-motd module is WAY too complex for our needs

and we also use the same module as a trivial CI test in testing Foreman itself - modules like ntp were a poor fit

Makes sense. Just looking at it from the Forge perspective, we've got about twenty motd modules and it might be confusing to people if they use Foreman and see it. Maybe a note in the README recommending the puppetlabs one for general use?
