and not to mention the galloping pile of really crappy IRC interfaces out there. Plus you have to pretty much learn an entire command set to be competent to use all the awesoe IRC features. Face it… IC is not user friendly, not even in the current run of GUI clients. They’re all windows into an older system with an assumed body of knowledge underlying the entire thing.

I have several private channels I’m in that all have separate private passwords

I can have defaults in IRC that I override... passwords are different, and the fact that slack doesn't really have private channels... (it has hidden, but not really private)
