@dry-raincoat-61038 hey hey! not to worry - there’ll be many more of them.

I sent through a rather lengthy email about support CRMs as I would love to hear if anyone has some good insight. Need to switch and I'm really disappointed in the current offerings. I'm all about root categorisation so I can fix the problems or the product.

But all tools seems focused on CR's and Macros. Basically done for outsourcing call centres to increase productivity so they can charge their clients more

just saw it come through. I’ll definitely have some input to that! we’re going through exactly the same process here. currently using Helpscout which looks good but is very basic

<!here> hello! would you include “unsubscribe” link in your privacy policy update email?

So, I’m a little less clear on the details, but people need to actively agree to something in order to keep receiving emails? Am I right in thinking that?

Because what I’ve been doing in to just ignore them all in hopes that it will be a big unsubscribe spree of a lot of things I don’t want anymore without me doing anything 🙈

technically if you email someone and they don't opt back in they are unsubscribing makin the unsubscribe irrelevant, however it is a requirement to have an unsubscribe on all emails that you mass send.

We have stated that you can unsubscribe but have not provided the link in our PP. in every mailing we ensure that we have a link at the bottom of the e mail to unsubscribe however (which is required)

thanks! I’m thinking of sending a very simple message in line of what Nike did, just say that we’ve updated Privacy Policy and Terms, and leave it at that. nothing on comms at all (we’re relying on soft opt-in)

going with assumption that as long as it’s not a message about marketing or communications, it’s our legal obligation to update any existing user on changes to privacy policy and main terms…

our lawyer got back to my question with “I can definitely answer this…for a fee of a day’s work looking into how you collected your marketing preferences”. in my eyes, this is a very simple question…

depends on how you collected the consent previously 🙂

@orange-area-56954 but I think it only applies to marketing emails and excludes service/transactional messages

Update to privacy policy I’m pretty sure will count as a service related e mail. I’ve just seen Hubspot send theirs out this morning. They’ve chosen to emphasise this point (see the bottom paragraph)

wahhh this is amazing! someone else typed out the advice from their lawyers (hopefully) 🙂 exactly what I needed. @faint-umbrella-21214 thank you so much!

I did some counting for all the privacy policy update emails I’ve received - 80% had unsubscribe link, 20% didn’t

Sorry bit late to this but I just floated it by our in-house legal team and they came back with the following -

It depends who is emailing who e.g. B2B B2C and is there an existing business relationship and what did we tell them when we established the relationship
  • q

    quiet-orange-43581

    05/23/2018, 11:53 AM
@cool-ambulance-65794 thanks! we’re emailing B2C, and those customers have registered on our app and would have agreed to the privacy policy as they started using the app. our old privacy policy states that we will update them about any changes to privacy policy…so it looks like this is exactly what we’ve set out to do!

No problem - for what it's worth, I invest on the Growth Street platform as well as work here, and we sent a similar email for the privacy policy, and a separate one asking investors to opt back into marketing communications and updates

yes - we were thinking about the opt back into as well but decided to go with the soft opt-in for now after getting some legal advice
