For the most part I think the organization is very good. Though the tracker tokens and locations tokens haven't proven too useful.

To me it feels very self explanatory and easy to follow, which I can't say for many games with rule books this size, and finding info is a cinch

And also not to tell you that you can't find it unintuitive, it just wasn't within my frame of reference and context, it's all been very chill and breezy for me.

Gloomhaven has 1 rulebook, 1 story book, and 1 encounter book. So far Oathsworn has had 2 rulebooks, 2 story books, and 1 encounter book. Ending a scenario in Gloomhaven happens in 1 book. Ending a scenario in Oathsworn requires 3 books. There is one 'story phase' map in Gloomhaven that is more just to reference what you've done in the world and where they are. In Oathsworn the deepwood map - and in fact deepwood exploration as a whole - is maybe the clunkiest thing I've ever done in a board game.

I'm not saying Oathsworn is a difficult game to grasp, because really none of these games are that difficult for me to grasp. What I'm saying is that a lot of things are done in a funky or clunky way.

Really? Picking 1 of 4 cardinal directions is clunky?

Place down identical cards, move a direction, flip to a page, DON'T LOSE YOUR PLACE OR BUMP THE THING YOU LEAVE TO KEEP YOUR PLACE DEAR GOD PLEASE, place a time token, consult the 2nd story book, DONT BUMP YOUR EXPANDING MAP, DONT ACCIDENTALLY LOSE TRACK OF WHAT NUMBER YOU WERE FLIPPING TO IN THE SLIGHTEST

And that's not exactly a fair descriptor, their are 2 story books but you're never flicking between 2 you're in a small section of 1 per session, or using an app. Again I don't think clunky is an appropriate word at all for that. It's always clear where you should be looking

That sounds like a you issue and not a game issue to be honest. The game could not make it simpler

Or give you more ways to track or keep it accessible.

Nah, I think it's nonsense and that as a mechanic it works but not well. Like I said, I've never encountered anything like it in other games, and I've played some of the most complicated games out there like Mage Knight, Gloomhaven, KDM, etc... Even KDM is less clunky with 4 or 5 expansions thrown in.

It's not complexity or depth throwing me here. These activities aren't difficult - they are merely needlessly obnoxious.

I know I'm nerd circles hyperbole is the normal but come on. You did come in calling stuff dumb so 🤷‍♂️ Mate you're seriously, SERIOUSLY, saying Mage Knight of all things is more intuitive and less clunky. It's in my top 10 games of all time but you have to be trolling. HAVE TO 😂😂😂🤩

I edited my comment to say unintuitive.

Yes Asking players to pick North South East or West is obnoxious.

We have been using the app for managing the deepwood navigation, it's really convenient. No need to go into the other rulebooks.

Yeah the app probably erases most of my issue with the deepwood

In every game I have played: You have the board in front of you, and the book you're reading from. If you have a board in front of you, every tile typically has reference points and information rather than being a generic X or Y tile. If it has you move to a tile and the tile wants you to do something, the information will be on the tile, the place you go to is in the book. You don't have to keep track of what section you're on because the tiles in front of you are typically numbered and are different than the other tiles in some way.

I think a much more intuitive system would have been to have specific tiles

Rather than a deck of generic tiles

I think that I would probably have similar complaints if we weren't using the app for the deepwood exploration.

Ah I see a super clear divergence. You want The game to fit to previous experience and I prefer novelty and the game as it comes to me

That alone would completely destroy the point of the Deepwood phase, its a narrative device primarily and that feeling of confusion and loss is vital, its why its skiable to instant action players.
