I didn't get a chance yet to build one today as I am now at the airport heading to Mobile World Conference but I will build one once I land. It has to be something simple we are missing

Has anyone experimented with how well splitting a NUC's MiniDisplay port (where supported) into dual monitors works in a client configuration? The newer ones supposedly can handle 4k @60 FPS, while the HDMI can only muster 30 FPS.

Very useful, many thanks, @Jarian Gibson! Looks like a couple support the DisplayPort 1.2 configuration as it's apparently called. Many will pass through to extra monitors or use a combo of DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces. Nice thing about the NUCs is that there are so many of them with a wide variety of configurations that cover a wide range of options.

Do you split the DisplayPort or loop though somehow? There are a number of different ways depending on the unit. The Skull, for example, has 3 video ports: 1 HDMI, one mini DisplayPort and one Type-C 1.2 DisplayPort, so do you use 3 separate outputs, one per physical interface? Some DisplayPorts can I believe be split or passed through to two monitors. It's pretty confusing, the way it's (sort of) documented.

I use all three direct no splitting in this case. I am heading to Barcelona right now but will 3 on stand for demos so I can try it out if you like, I think I have a couple of splitters to test with

Depends what kind of NVIDIA power ... all the big boys are full height, x16 and many are double-width.

Try something like a GeForce. The K1200 is x16 double width. If that fits, it'd be nice /w between 2 and 4 GB of RAM.

Probably a GeForce would be OK if you just want to do passthrough. $300-$400, depending on how much video RAM.
