So if this was just for home lab I would have gone with those, but I'm going to do 10 Intel Skull's and as might now (when not doing classes) I'll lab stuff like Nutanix and Atlantis CE. Nutanix requires 2 SSD's which means I need to buy whooping 20 sticks....

Just an FYI for all- I have been DM'ing Eric and Carl about this but I have been playing around with the Startech USB 3.0 to Gigabit devices on XenServer. Have them 'working' but there is something odd happening at the moment. I will do a full write up once I get the problems resolved.

Hey... so I just bought the 512GB 960 EVOs for my NUC. I looked at the price differences between the options and went with the EVO because in a box the size of the NUC I don't think I'm going to hit IOPS limits before I hit RAM limits. That's just my opinion 🙂

We have 3 Intel Skull NUCs with two 512 960 EVOs in each. Running Nutanix CE. These things are blazing fast! Installed Server OS in about 10 sec

Haven't decided yet what hypervisor I am installing. I want to play with the Iris Pro stuff in XenServer

Those EVO's are too rich for my blood! I'm still trying to allocate funds to replace my 3rd XS host which is an old DL 380 G5

Yea I'm buying these on my orgs dime and not me personally. I couldn't do this stuff in a home lab at this time. Fortunately my org gives me R&D $$ each year so we can tinker and learn

Good choice Paul, it's simply the best. But I can by 2x 500GB EVO for the same price and from there on setup a 4 node Nutanix CE cluster & a XenServer with 6 hosts & running Atlantis SDS on top.

it's my dimes 🙂 so since I'm buying that much it "might" be a wiser decision.

Nice! I'm really liking this stuff. I just wish they would release something more focused on security like what you can do with pfSense/Squidguard. And I want better alerting.

Yeah, I also didn't really understand the differences in the UniFi devices vs the Edge line when I purchased. Can't manage eveything with the controller, unfortunately. The price was right though!
