So what are your functions in your rack? Mine for instance has a "common" area these are my nucs for consoles and networking management etc, then I split my rack into testing for perf tests, side by sides, and I have another area sectioned off for learning labs All are network separated via vlans and the common areas access everything, I can also upscale or downscale from one to the other quickly

Haven't even thought about it yet beyond the Wifi right now. 😀. Need to redo it all so good thing we have this channel to discuss this. This rack is going to have the 4 shelves for "prod" and then rails for switches and USG later at the top. Dual railed UPSs on the bottom. Above those will be all the enterprise rack ready stuff for testing with which will be the "lab" VLAN. AV stuff will be its own rack when I'm ready to tackle that stuff (probably next year).

No idea yet. Right now I have nothing and it's all up to what my employer has at hand and I can borrow for my articles

Nice thank you! That's good insight! I'm planning on loading the heavy stuff toward bottom. That's a great idea on the shelves. I was at the HP Moonshot lab last week and they gave me a great idea for color changing LEDs around the door for alerting purposes. Another thing I have to figure out. Maybe even run them around the shelves to differentiate sections by color

I bought vertical finger channel deals with the rack. Velcro ties and color coded patch cables is the plan. Also bought metered vertical PDUs so hopefully that helps keep it neat

That's a great point. I was thinking 2 big umbilicals (one for network and one for PoE cams) but now thinking to umbilical them by section. Thank you
