It is sooooo quiet in the lab now, it is starting to drive me crazy unless I listen to some music or podcasts

If you’re into home automation any of the ZigBee or Zwave sensors work well. It is what I use for my server room and IDF closet to get notifications.

I use the Eve Degree, mostly because it has HomeKit support

I picked up a WS 50 station and added a bunch of sensors for a outdoor hydroponic setup. They have an app that you can install and a web portal that tracks the current weather and historical and it has configurable alerts. <https://www.ambientweather.com/amws50anemometer.html>

Would like something I can monitor from a browser or a phone app. I just want to know if the room gets over 75F. I am sure if the room gets too warm all the fan noise will let me know something is up (pardon the pun).

When you build it into your home automation system like Tobias says you can kick off all sorts of flows with your temp sensor, your imagination is the only limit. I have everything from basic email and push notifications to running exhaust fans and blinking the Hue lights red in my office if temps go critical.

I just bought one to try out. Should arrive tomorrow. I was just curious how well it works. Saw a few videos on YouTube and it seems even with low light the IR seems to pick up well.

Was alot of fun making it. Will definitely do the job. The temperatures are good too. It'll easily sit and run with no problems.

Did you do some load-testing and monitor the temps?

Monitored the temps through esx, I've not done any load testing, ran 4 VMs on each node at full tilt using prime 95.  It's gets warm but it's steady.

Cheers Ray, when I get an idea in my head ;-) I want to do live MDT demos including NetScaler setups, a bit of DDNS and Let's Encrypt and allow people to logon. Also SDWAN back to my homelab for further apps etc... Hence ESX on this one, better PowerShell support for automation.

Yea we use Mimosa at work for production use cases. 1-2 GBs of throughout with only a few ms of latency. Not provisioned with an app but with a browser. Hardest part is the install and fine tuning alignment to get optimal dB. What did these units run?

How’s the connection? Thinking about using this as backup connection to my office.

Great. About 300 ft and almost line of site with one tree branch along the way. 99% and a 1.8gb connection. Everything adopted by the cloudkey on the house side. So easy to setup as it has leds to help you align it perfectly and they are paired from factory.

Got the Jetson Nano up and running at home on an old 40" 1080p TV. Since the router is in another room (and I'm banned from putting any sort of computer equipment into it due to WAF issues), I set up a wireless extender box that taps into the router's WiFi and provides a built-in 100 Mb Ethernet connector (adequate for 95%+ connectivity) and hence don't even need WiFi working on the Nano itself. The router takes care of providing a local IP address via DHCP. The Web browser is pointing to the <http://nvidia.com|nvidia.com> site and the GPU meter can be seen at work, as well. Ta da. :-)

<@UMA2Y51TR> on one side you probably need to watch more movies around OpenPilot to see that it does braking and starts from a full stop in a jam. Automatic lane switch is not implemented or at least not now. It does it but you need to move the wheel a bit so a nudge would help and that's a safety measure for now. I do see a change in the future and they could use the radar to detect if there's a car around yours so it can change lanes automatically but since the system needs to be 100% sure, it may take a while to have it implemented.
On the other side, New features and improved features are coming with every version. Actually, I anticipate a way better system if they integrate maps.

Meh, why buy so many of those? And in the end, those need to stay ventilated since they're fanless but keeping them in the foamy Pelican case doesn't do too good for them.

You're bang on the money with the differences. What are you seeing price difference wise?

E200 is about 150 USD more. Looking at a three or four node setup so that’s a decent difference

I prefer cores before clock speed. Another thing as Jarian said, you can fit 2x E200 in 1U so for a 4 node you only need 2U while 4U for a E300 setup.

For me that means only 3U for 6 nodes (3x VMW &amp; 3x NTNX).

But E300 have more internal space, you might be able to use vGPU and more space for SSD disks. I’m doing 2x NVMe (1 TB Samsung EVO 970 Plus) for my Nutanix Cluster. Anyway start out with 2x32GB per node to keep cost down. 

You could look at something like a Quadro p1000 if you don't want to deal with any of Nvidia's driver "behavior" when you try to pass a consumer GTX/RTX card to a VM.

Do you mind having to jump through the hoops to get a consumer card working?  The Nvidia driver purposely won't start when it detects the system is a VM, so you tell Windows it's not running in a VM and then the driver will start.  If so, you could run any half height GPU, I've not kept up but I think there is  a half height 1050, 1050ti.  I'm not sure if there is anything in the 1600 or 2000 series lineup that is half height.

Not at all, they'll work without effort.  They just typically require more power and thus heat dissipation capacity and typically perform a little less.  I've not looked at low profile/half height AMD but their modern performing cards are typically full height dual slot or more cards.

A lot of the lower end Quadros should work, as long as they have the right physical dimensions. We ran some really old P620 series years ago and even that helped. A P1000 as suggested above is a good suggestion, albeit a bit more pricey.

We have PaperCut Mobility Printing set up for our Chromebooks - basically it was just deploying the Chrime app to the devices. What’s your issue?

make sure your CBs use the internal DNS if you’re using DNS based discovery 

Figured out the issue by chatting with their Twitter support. I am using an unmanaged Chromebook which does not work with the Known Host Discovery method. Only managed Chromebooks will work. DNS based discovery is what they recommend and I need to try.

That may depend on the model of switcher. We just have many to one for several input types and it works well. Not sure it’ll do what you need but worth checking them out.
