@Jason Samuel The doorbell transformer is next to impossible to get to which is why the three electricians said the current system could not be added to or extended. Whoever built this house literally put that transformer in an impossible to reach location and you would have to cut a crossbeam to remove it. I guess they don't check items like that would doing code inspections.

@Webster Webster do you know the voltage? If it's 16 volts you are good to go. Won't need to touch it.

I have no idea and no way I am crawling that far into the attic to find it

I had to go with 24 volt because I have multiple entries which means multiple doorbells drawing power. Especially at night when IR clicks on. With 1 doorbell you are fine with 16. Pick up a ring pro at bestbuy, take off existing doorbell, connect the 2 wires, if it powers up and connects to app and says voltage is green, you're good to go. Don't need electrician or climbing in attic.

They have all the Ring devices in stock at the local Lowes for the same price as Amazon. Looks like a trip is in order.

Lowes has a decent stock of smart home products. More so than Home Depot. I buy all my smart switches at Lowe's because it's usually the same price as Amazon and when I have the time to pretend to be a handyman it's usually last minute and I need them right then and there.

I am not a handyman type guy and have absolutely no mechanical aptitude at all. This is what the current doorbell looks like.

I should be able to just undo the two wires, hook them up to the Ring Pro and see what happens?

@Webster Webster that is correct sir. And doesn't matter which color goes to which terminal btw. The ring doorbell app will walk you through the whole procedure with a nice little video

@Webster Webster once you verify the ring works, last part is mounting. Since you have brick you will need to drill 2 pilot holes. Pickup a masonry bit at Lowe's if you don't have one. Makes it very easy. If you have a hammer drill it's even easier.

You can try using just the existing top anchor for now and not mess with the 2nd hole and drilling until you verify you are totally happy with it.

Well I opened the box and it says the Pro Power module installation is required. I have no idea how to install that little box and all those wires in the (no)space I have.

You should check to make sure you have power before you waste time wiring it up

@Webster Webster That's meant to go in your chime box, not the attic. Also it's not needed immediately, you can pop that in later if you really need it. You can connect the two wires to the ring and see if the led starts spinning white. Then start the setup process in the ring app.

@Webster Webster I have ring in my home and it's the best thing I have done. I receive couriers while I am overseas and my teens use there phones to check door before opening. I use doorbell extenders for the ring tone to go upstairs so my son can hear if he is sleeping (he works shift) and it has live view for viewing any time. Runs off battery or mains, I use battery and I charge once a month overnight 4 hours

@Jason Samuel the video says to press the orange button on the back of the device. I am not color blind to orange but there is no button of any color on the back of my device.

@Webster Webster I believe you're following the instructions for the original ring. You have a ring pro and it has a black button on the side. Make sure you select the right one in the app during setup

@Webster Webster Can you post a pic? I suspect you still have the cover on. You have to pop that off to see the button
