Tile won’t work, read more on how it works but it’s not GPS, you need something that does GPS and that ups the cost

Tile also relies on hitting people with the app around it so not reliable

Stupid question probably, but does the amazon Echo Dot need an external speaker or is it good enough / loud enough for all of you who have made use of it?

I have four in my house and they are fine for everything I do but I do use Sonos for my music output on a party level

Does not need an external speaker for 98% of things

@User it's good enough for background music. My office if Dot. Bigger rooms are full size echo. For in ceiling speakers I use an amp+chromecast

@Jarian Gibson one thing to try is installing Life360 on her phone and setup geofence alerts when she leaves the home and for regular destinations. If phone is left behind then you can get a cheap prepaid android phone with data plan and hardwire into the trunk of the car.

I doubt it. The pdfs just show how to setup and use the igel kits for demos

Speaking of IGEL. I'm having the worst luck trying to get their devices to connect to my SF with our internally signed cert. Works very well if I use a GoDaddy cert. ICA discovery works fine from the CLI but from the gui i get an error

greetings. my home office is upstairs in the attic. when someone comes to the door and either rings the doorbell or knocks on the door, i can't hear them. they can yell, scream, and pound on the door all they want, i can't hear them. i have had three electricians come and look at the existing doorbell system and all three said it cannot be extended or added to. i am wanting your opinion on something like the ring.com system. do those types of devices really work? it would nice to hear and see who is at the door. the distance from my wifi router the the front door is probably less than thirty feet. thanks

@Webster Webster Have 2 at my home, 1 at folks, 1 at siblings, you can manage all from the single app if you wanted. I have both the older ring and the newer ring pros, I advise sticking with the pro. I swear by them and their customer service is stellar. I had 2 go bad over the years and they swapped them out after just a bit of basic troubleshooting over the phone. They moved to a 24/7 support model now I believe and they helped me once on New Years Eve just a couple hours before midnight when I noticed an issue. Make sure you set motion alerts and draw around where you want. Mine are set on the walkways so as soon as UPS/USPS/etc sets foot off their truck and onto the curb I know about it. Also if you have family members that don't have cell phones glued to their hip and don't thing where your existing chimes are optimal, get the ring chime and pair that up too. Works great. Here's my review, you may have to upgrade your transformer which isn't too hard http://www.jasonsamuel.com/home-automation-internet-of-things-iot-cheat-sheet/#Video_doorbells
