    Many organizations have 12 days of sick leave annually. Don't y'all think it's too less? What if an employee is severely unwell and needs at least a month of bed rest?

    Hi everyone, I am little new to this, so the questions can be bit basic, please bear with us๐Ÿ™ So we were initially recruiting interns and then converting them to full time employees, but we will now start to hire direct full time employees as well. I want to know what are the checks we should perform while extending an offer for a full time employment. Currently, we only ask for references contacts from them from their previous employer/s and then we verify from these contacts about the hire, their working style, tenure etc. Is there anything else we should ask for (whether required legally or not but a good practice)? And in reference checks also, what should be asked generally? Thanks in Advance!

    Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹ We did a poll last week wherein we asked all of you to choose the area(s) that you are responsible for or actively involved in? The option that got the highest vote was '*Employee engagement.'* I found this interesting piece on improving your employee engagement with examples of 5 companies that are getting employee engagement right: https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/285052 Also, I had multiple folks reach out to me here on DMs who wanted suggestions related to employee engagement, so I decided to start a thread on it with my response.
    In my organization, we announced a 'work-from-anywhere' policy and to our advantage, there is a decent number of takers for it. Since we also understand the importance of in-person meet-ups to know your teammates better, we organized an offsite in May where we all (200+ folks) met & it was so much fun! We might plan to do the next one soon. In addition, we have incorporated the L&D budget, workcation, WFH allowances and many other such employee-friendly policies.
    We have set up tools in place for taking a break from talking about work. For example, automated team building quizzes, polls and virtual coffee. We made instant recognition a must-have ingredient for our employee engagement recipe and built a tool that allows us to recognize our peers instantly for their good work, without having to wait for the next town hall/award ceremony. These initiatives have helped us improve engagement significantly ๐Ÿ“ˆ
    My response is based on a 'remote-first' work setting. I'd like other members to also pitch in their suggestions and ideas from across different workplace settings _*(remote-first/ hybrid/ office-only)*_๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ’ฌ How is it in your organization or companies that you consult? What are some of the interesting things been done/planned in terms of employee engagement?- let's share best practices and make it a resourceful thread ๐Ÿ™‚
