Hello, we have an issue with identification and tracking to Posthog (cloud integration). We’re using the JS and the Ruby SDKs. We track pageviews and custom events. • when tracking an anonymous user, we submit only a (self-generated) anonymous ID, and no distinct ID. ◦ Rudderstack submits our anonymous ID as distinct ID to Posthog, plus the same string again as anonymous ID • when this user later logs in, we track the same anonymous ID together with a distinct ID. We also indentify the user. ◦ Rudderstack submits the distinct ID as distinct ID to Posthog, plus the anonymous ID. The problem is that the users are not matched on Posthog. If the same anonymous ID is submitted with 2 different distinct IDs, they are not joined together. Question is: why does Rudderstack submit a distinct ID to Posthog if we only provide an anonymous ID? I think it should just omit the distinct one, so that the anonymous ID can still be matched when the user logs in?

Noticed recently one of our sources is not getting totally flattened. This is coming through webhook source. Is this an inherit behaviour or just a limit on the number of columns that can be flattended?

Hi Rudderstack support team, I would need to set up SOURCES & DESTINATIONS using

. But looks like the SOURCE BLOCK for FLUTTER is not coded yet. When I try to import my current rudderstack state (

./scripts/bootstrap-terraform.sh

) , it says : "Type FLUTTER is not supported. And I cannot see it in the rudderstack provider list. Is it something we could help to implement ? Do you have a roadmap on that ? Thanks a lot.

After thinking a while, The FLUTTER SOURCE has to be created only ONCE via the Control Plane. So my destinations (SLACK for instance) can be created using TERRAFORM. I will check how to be able to manage those SOURCE/DEST state with TERRAFORM.

Hey guys, do anyone have a code snippet example of how to send an anonymous event from the Python SDK without setting the user_id. I've been trying different ways of doing so, but without success yet. The documentation says user_id should always be present but only if anonymous_id is not set, but if I try to not pass the user_id as an argument I get the same error once again:

Hi all 👋 I'm new to Rudderstack and I've setup a new integration from my React front-end app to Google Analytics using the Javascript SDK. Currently, Rudderstack sends the anonymousID to GA as the clientID (which I understand is the default behaviour). However, this causes an issue when we track GA sessions across a different subdomain that shares cookies but doesn't use Rudderstack. Here GA tracks the clientID from its own cookie and the sessions cannot be linked in GA. I see a potential solution to this is for us to send the GA clientID from the cookie in every Rudderstack payload as per these docs: https://www.rudderstack.com/docs/destinations/streaming-destinations/google-analytics-ga/#how-rudderstack-takes-the-clientid Should the values "clientId" and "gaExternalId" be replaced with the GA clientID (usually of the form "1183997174.1673932710")? Is it best practice to send this on both initialisation and with every event? Lastly, is it our responsibility to write code to read the GA clientID from the cookie and include it in the Payload, or does Rudderstack do this behind the scenes? I'm also a bit unclear about what "Disable Md5 encryption from Client ID" setting does and again, what's best practice and if it's related to my issue above. Thanks in advance!

Hey! We're having trouble thinking about how to resolve the identity of not-yet-fully registered users with our service. Would you have any advice or best practices for identifying users who are known to marketing teams and tools but not yet 'registered' in the sense of a typical uniquely identified software account creation? For example, when we collect emails for webinars and other marketing forms, we're not sure if we should use an Identify call or just rely on the anonymousId created with every Track event. Our goal is to be able to gain more insight into the pageview activity from these 'marketing users' rather than treat the page views as 'anonymous' since we don't have a user record available.
