If something doesn't happen with stdlib 9.x deprecation warnings in the next week can we talk about backing out <https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-yum/pull/315> ?

hi all, can I please get eyes on <https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-prometheus/pull/669>.  I see that repo has many pull requests, hoping to at least get the deps updated in the near term however please.

i understand the idea but it looks very strange to namespace functions and methods :face_with_peeking_eye:

we could also rewrite it to stdlib::to_yaml($alerts)

doesnt make it better, just was curious about the syntax at all. this also goes for functions. but for methos it looks realy strange. but if this is the offical way, then be it...

(i like the .method way more, becaus i do it all the time in ruby too XD)

it is not ruby, but it runs on ruby and the concepts where taken from ruby and i myself get confused every time when i switch between ruby and puppet language :smile: :see_no_evil:

not saying you're wrong, just I've heard the above argument way too often in my life

(it would be so much easier if it was, in fact, ruby)

IMHO the biggest problem with this change is, it has no overvalue (it's more a disadvantage cause readability is worse) and it's a lot of work to change it

to easily identify where to start for a major release / identify what else could be effected
