My take is <https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-lint-undef_in_function-check/issues/7#issuecomment-1126198673> and I think we should archive it TBH.

a lint plugin has no way of telling which API the function uses, so can't make any sensible decision about whether using `undef` was a good/bad thing.

I suspect that even before Puppet 4 (when this check was more relevant), most times `undef` was accidentally passed to a function was via a variable and the lint check wouldn't have helped you anyway.
