I have plenty of issues with front end dev, but server side frameworks are just needed these days

and you could argue Perl-CGI is also a framework, but just very minimal

I mean, at the end of the day there’s two functions going on. One s opening files for read and acting on it and the other is making DB queries/functions. It could likely be even more light than Sinatra

yes you can, but why would you want to? you can write a pure rack application but then when you end up writing the content negotation and proper status management you probably end up with sinatra anyway

if you try RHEL7 with it's dead Ruby, you're lost :D

if you try Arch Linux, you can probably install most deps from the package manager and get up2date packages

SCLs on EL7 probably get you quite far

with the old glibc you run into issues quite quickly

and I don't think taht SCLs provide a newer version

I'm not aware of any glibc issues, but I mostly started to miss newer systemd features
