I transitioned to B2B SaaS writing months ago, and it's been quite difficult to get a job, even though I've upped my marketing and SEO skills. Mostly no feedback or rejection. Everyone wants people with 5years + experience, and whatnot. Newbies deserve a chance too🥺🥺 If you know any SaaS agency recruiting writers for entry level jobs, please comment 🙏🏻 I have strong content marketing, SEO, and Content writing skills. I also have B2B SaaS Samples to showcase, thank you 😭🧡

Hey folks! Looking for some feedback on how to go about adding a “done-for-you publication pitching” service for my clients. Some background: I’ve been pitching ideas and have been published with Biz Insider a couple of times and have a few other things in the works. One of my clients would like for me to pitch on their behalf and then ghostwrite pieces when our pitches are accepted. What’s the best practice for this? Should I have her set up an email address for me with her domain so I appear more officially “on her team” or is my own email sufficient? Should I present myself as a PR partner in pitch emails? Should I write the pitch emails and simply have her send them herself from her own email and help with the follow-up? Any and all feedback is appreciated! Thanks so much!

Hey everyone! Want to share a quick career-related opportunity from my company, First Round Capital. We just launched the next Fast Track Program, which is a 3-month mentorship experience where we pair seasoned tech leaders with startup employees. We're looking for more Mentors & Mentees to get involved, so I thought this channel would be a great source for both 😊 You can learn more and get involved here. Application deadline is this week—let me know if you have any questions!

Hey everyone! I’m looking to get a role in content marketing; strategy, creation and the whole she-bang! However, I don’t particularly enjoy writing🥲 I do it and I’m told I do it well but it’s not something I want to consistently do for a long time. On the other hand, I enjoy creating short form videos. So I wanted to ask… Is writing a huge prerequisite for content marketing or would companies consider hiring marketers with other skills?

I have a question on how to handle a situation with a client. We got off to a good and productive start earlier this year and agreed on the scope of a project to be completed in May. There were some delays on their end, and they left me hanging a lot. Now they want to close out the project without completing it. We only did about 2/3 of what we agreed upon, and if we stop now, I'll be out $1,000. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Advice or thoughts on what to do?

Looking for input on job titles (I may or may not be in the correct channel): A new role on my team will handle both social media affiliate / partner marketing as well as offsite content outreach. She has been managing and communicating with social media marketers & influencers for the last year, providing them with brand content and guidance on how to create UGC for the brand. She's been called the "Affiliate Manager" until now, but that doesn't encompass all that she does and she will also be communicating with content marketers beyond social to build backlinks and relationships with other brands and individuals. Marketing titles are so inconsistent that I don't even know where to start, so I figured I'd ask here in case anyone has thoughts! So far we've come up with: Outreach Manager, Partnership Marketing Strategist, Partner Media Strategist, Partnership Curator, or Offsite Content Manager. Do any of these make sense? Is there a standard title for this role?

Hey y'all! I'm thinking of starting my Own editing/mentorship service with the goal of helping writers improve their craft. I want to work with people one on one and help them develop their writing + SEO optimization skills. Would anyone be interested in that? And If so, what would you charge for such a thing? Thanks!

Hey guys, what do you think is a fair salary for technical content writer? Role is in agency writing for A-list tech companies. I have skills more than they ask for. I have not worked full-time for any company as a writer. So don't know what I can demand and they would be willing to pay.

Hey all! Doing some research on career path/roles. If you’ve been promoted from a content marketing manager role, what was your next title? Interested in what others have seen or received beyond adding Senior to the title. Some other helpful context would be the org size, marketing team size, and content team structure. Thanks!

To the current/former journalists/editors: How can freelance writers balance pitching publications & protecting their ideas, especially when they're just starting out? For some more context, I pitched an editor one month ago with three different concepts. They never responded to me, but they did follow me on Twitter after I sent the email. Now, two very similar articles have appeared on their site within the past week. I've (unfortunately) heard of this happening before, but it doesn't make it any less discouraging.

Hi all! Looking for some advice! I am trying to understand what would be next in my content career. Currently, I am a social media and content manager. But I actually found that I don't thrive in the editing and writing piece. Most of the career paths I have seen have been Content Marketing Managers who manage a team of editors or write a lot of content for the team. Same for social media, where it's heavily a content creator role. Im looking to do something that involves a little bit more strategy and research. Are there any content roles that you would recommend to seek after that had a bit more of this piece? Thank you!

When you go out of your way to make every blog post "tight" with short sentences, white space, and bullets and lists (you know like a good blogger 👼 ), how do you deal with feedback like this?
I had the pleasure of editing your submission—which was a great read! You'll notice I tightened up the copy by turning those short sentences into meatier paragraphs—which our audience love. Please keep this in mind for future articles. Once approved, I'll schedule this in our system.

Hey all – would love some advice re: a current interview situation of mine. I’m in the final stages of interviewing for a content marketing role with a pretty big company that would be great for my career if things worked out. However, the final stage is a hefty assignment – it’s presenting a set of recommendations for what content I’d create for a current/existing (not hypothetical) program, giving ideas on how to drive further organic traffic, and a measurement approach. They also ask that this person evaluates their current content and share an approach to building a content program that would benefit their audience + business. Basically giving them an entire content strategy. This is unpaid and the only disclaimer was “don’t spend more than 2 hours on this”, which they always say, but the research alone for the assignment would be 2 hours. I’d likely spend another 2-3 on writing it out, putting it into a presentation, and finessing it. They can also very easily just use my ideas and my work even if I don’t get the job. I’ve had something like this happen before where they took an interview assignment of mine and used it. They are a very well-known company, but I still have some doubts. 1) Is this okay for a hiring team to do? 2) I want to protect myself/my time/my work, but I also want the job. They likely know this and could be putting candidates through to see who makes it through. What would be some appropriate questions to ask the team? I’d love to know how many people they have in the final stage.

What beginner courses and training do you recommend for someone looking to get into Digital Marketing? Secondly, what areas do you think are growing - email, video, PPC, etc.? I'm trying to help someone who wants to get into the field and I want to set them up with the basics and a foundation to get started.

I am in the midst of an interview process that is going SLOWLY. First screener was a month ago. Then they had their company offsite for a week and then next week I had an interview with the hiring manager. The week after an interview with their team. The final interview was set to be an interview with the VP and the hiring manager. Only the hiring manager is out on vacation until then end of next week. I emailed the company yesterday to say that I was interested in learning more about the assignment the hiring manager told me I would have to do for the final interview. While I haven't heard back yet (and I don't know if the hiring manager shared the assignment with recruiters before leaving on vacation), the company just reposted the position today. I'm not sure if this means that I'm not being considered anymore? Or if they are just worried that other candidates --- including me--- might be hired away before they finish the process and are looking to keep a candidate pool ready? It's a bit of a puzzle because everything went really well so far in interviews with the manager and team.
