pg29 Encounter Rulebook - “If an AoE attack covers more than one hex of a large character, do not attack every HP dice under the template. Instead add 1 damage for each extra hex of that creature that is within the AoE.”

I'm aware that AoEs can target only one HP dice from a single enemy, I'm talking about multiple enemies at once.

If the rules say, play a stagecard as a reaction, then its a simple yes. But I'm not quite shure about multiple foes with each having his own encounter deck.

That could end up messy! Thanks. The 'multiples' seem to have a single shared deck so far.

Another question on timings and out of turn damage: If a model walks through fire and loses a hit dice in its own turn, is the current stage card resolved in full before progressing onto the reaction? If the stage is interrupted, and its a stage switch, is the current active card also discarded and not resolved to completion? And is the witch classed as the one that caused the damage should it have been caused by a fire tile?

You finish resolving the current stage card before you start resolving any additional stage cards (Page 18). It looks like cards are drawn and effectively waiting in line until their turn to resolve comes up. So, I think, let's say the Broodmother is in the middle of resolving a Stage 1 card when a player removes its second HP die, causing it to advance to stage 2 and then draw the stage 2 card. You'd finish resolving the stage 1 card against its original target and then resolve the stage 2 card against the attacker. Advancing to a new stage discards cards from the top of the stage deck, but since the stage 1 card is already drawn and in the middle of resolving in this example and no longer on the deck, advancing to a new stage doesn't suddenly cancel the stage 1 card.

I'm not sure about the fire damage and whether it targets the Witch. On the one hand, yeah only the Witch can create fire, so it should arguably target the Witch, but there isn't really a "character who broke the location" to target, as the location was broken by a piece of terrain.

I think I'd guess that the Witch isn't the target, and instead the monster uses its default targeting conditions (after it finishes resolving the first card). But it could use a clarification. I'll ask on the BGG FAQ thread.

@c͕͗̕y҉̃̀̋ṇ͛̒s̠҉͍͊ͅy҉̃̀̋e̕ I got a response on BGG regarding fire. There’s actually a clarification specifically for it on page 21. No character broke that location, so the stage card uses its default targeting. (Which is usually closest Oathsworn.) Not sure how to permalink on mobile, but most recent messages here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2894439/official-faq-oathswornitd/page/2

Quick rules check, the Ursus “Bite” card. Does that ignore the might card for all Oathsworn targeted by the attack or just one? Other cards state whether it is just you or someone else. This one doesn’t so I’m leaning to it ignoring the card for everyone?

@Cloudstylegamer It will be all of them if they are targeted by an AOE attack, as you only role(draw cards) once for the attack against all Oathsworn.

How can companions defend, without ability cards? I'm getting stomped by these rats 🤣

iirc they have higher natural defence. Equipment + 2 (not sure if the +2 is the same throughout)

Both - much higher defense per their cards - often 5 or 6. And they can use tokens including defense - the only tokens they use differently are battle flow and animus, see p9 in encounter rulebook.

Hey, might be a silly question but what do you do with the armour cards with no cooldown number (pig iron coat etc) Do they just stay in your hand or can you play them?

Do they have a specific ability on the cards other than a defence value? If not there wouldn’t be a way to play them anyway.

Ok so they may as well just sit on the table instead of your hand? They will give shields at the start and that it?

Yeah some items just provide passive bonuses. Just a buff to your overall defense value.

Are common and unique items at end of encounter random or picked?

    Random!

Remember that your broken items are selected after you get the new ones though. So no risk of losing a vital item without replacement, or ending up with 4 bows and no armour.

You pu new cards first and then make a decision

It’s after I think they were suggesting that you get to see what new items you’ll be getting, so easier to decide what to let go of you get a good replacement.

Might be an obvious question but i'm asking just to be sure : When using "Chain Drag", do you draw more card if it crit ? Usually when a card says "Draw [COLOR]", its also specified if the card can or can't crit (except this one)
