Hmm one thing that is a bit strange to me, is that it can be strategically smart to switch out your character 1: You get to take a full setup of gear you want instead of having whatever you have gathered along the way. 2: You dont get any injuries to replace the ones you had gathered so far. On the other hand i dont see much in the way against switching character

Encounter book page 26 - you equip them with the common items of any chapter lower than free company’s current level and they keep the injuries.

So a character that’s just looted a boss is in theory stronger, as long as they got items they can benefit from

Official Shadowborne clarifications on 7 questions in that thread. Including what I think is an important one on Knock Back.

That’s a helpful reference for sure. I guess when playing any confusion about where something goes we always apply north then west. Good to have those clarifications.

Hi everyone. I thought I saw a character PDF for the starting cards for each character. Can anyone share please 🙂

Sorry if this has been asked before. I seem to remember it being said that it would be possible to swap characters between being companions and full oathsworn during the campaign, based on player number etc. But I can’t see that in the rules. I was hoping to do the first encounter solo now before getting someone else involved, but I don’t want to be tied in to a certain number of full characters vs companions from now all the way through!

You want page 26 of the encounter rule book. It has all the quick leveling instructions.

Make sure you look at the encounter rule book and not the encounter book though to avoid spoilers!

I think the KS updates for each character listed every card they come with.

Does equipment like weapons and armour have to be played into a cool-down position for us to get any benefit from them (E.g.) might cubes, or do weapons and armour basically stay in our hand unless we use a special ability?

I can’t figure out whether weapons have to be “on the table” all the time or only when using an ability in the black box at the bottom. Or are some of those passive rather than active abilities. And armour, does that have to be on the table, and if so where do they go? They have no cool-down value and there’s no “equipped items” slot on the player boards, so I’m a little puzzled.

So the Might cubes and defensive bonuses stay in play when both in hand and if the equipment is played into a battleflow spot(page 16 encounter rule book 3rd paragraph) You can either hold equipment in hand or I just place it on the table close to my player board. There are exceptions to this such as the exiles throw weapon ability where he loses the might cubes of both weapons until he picks the weapons back up but that is covered under the thrown rule on page 31 of the encounter rule book.

Random question to those who have the game. I was just watching the old Dice Tower play through and I had a question - do any of the character cards that allow them to shuffle the combat decks allow them to shuffle the monsters combat decks? Or just the players combat decks?

The 0 cool-down cards say “refresh YOUR might deck” (my emphasis) so I would say no.

Boo, I was thinking tactically it would be a cool option.

You’re permitted under the rules to check the discard so there are tactical options, say you know it’s going to be a miss and you want a token for your next round on the “determination” rule.

There are character abilities that allow shuffling of the might decks? What would dice players do with such an ability?

It doesn’t have any affect on the dice.
