I think I will paint the other 4 Stone hammer differently. Like green for decay, yellow for poverty or greedy 😅.

For those painting the armory bits. Found this little contraption at Hobby Lobby which made priming and holding things super easy

Arent you scared that those teeth will dent the model, and/or hide some spot for primer?

Would love an answer, too, 'cause I'm terrified just looking at it.

They seem fine after the first use. In fact, they were convenient to hold on to for painting. I like it. 👍

These look great dude. The one second to the left, the vines look different, did you use different colours for that?

I dare assume some contrast paints here....

Oh yeah, even the chapter monsters drink up all the contrast paint they can get their filthy little deepwood hands/paws/claws on. I don't have the terrain, but damn that is a large surface to cover.

2 out of 5 I used a contrast paint on the vines with some regular paint dry brushed over. The other 3, the vines got a base color, washed, drybrushed with another color, then drybrush highlighted with another. So the final color on all 5 is the same, the mid should be the same (same color of contrast vs regular, but the under colors of 2 will be less nuanced

Yes, but doesn’t help like you’d think. I hated the look of the contrast paint on the tree bark, it kept creating burnt looking areas because it didn’t spread evenly due to the contours of the model. So it’s a heavy drybrush of color everywhere to fix it. The contrast turned into just a dark brown wash. Oh well. The rocks and the eggs and sacs are all regular paint, not contrast.

I knocked out a couple walls yesterday too. The walls are great for contrast paint though. This is one layer of grey contrast, and one of green, with some light edge dry brushing with normal paint for highlights on the rocks

I absolutely adore contrast paints, but I can see how they can frick up the model with their "blotchy" nature. Which one did you try, Wyldwood or gharagax sewer? I would say the walls look like Basilicum Grey.

Wyldwood. And yep, that’s basilicum grey on the walls

This was my first time using contrast. Those trees have many many coats of paint since I was using them as experimental Guinea pigs 😄

Lol, thanks, the first attempts while learning them were not acceptable to me at all. On the trees I mostly ditched contrast and just painted normally because they just looked amateurish. Love them for those walls though!

My only tips and tricks suggestion with contrast would be that you just apply it liberally, like, wash×2. Just don't let it dry before you finish the whole surface, as another layer before it dries completely reactivates and smears it around.
