Does anyone have some good airbrush videos? I just want to watch someone painting a complete mini with an airbrush

I like that lovely πŸƒ πŸ‚-base, even if its hiding this well sculpted base.

Maybe that's why I can't find anything. I was really confused how you would do that with an airbrush. But then again I don't know much about airbrushes

What do people use an airbrush for then?

Often to bring base colors ovrr a zenithal primer or transparent gradients over another color or some OSL.

Airbrushes are really fast at putting down primer, zenithal highlights or basecoats fast and smoooth. They’re also really good for getting smooth gradients. Generally people still use a brush for smaller details, dry brushing and the like.

I keep meaning to check out air brushing too. I mentioned before I was out the hobby for a good 15 years at least, and Oathsworn has made me come back big time, using my old gear and paint up. The old primers and half my paints still worked so got by. Every few weeks I add a few new paints/washes etc as I get back intae the hobby (I have a few miniature based games standing by so happy tae continue!) Air-brushing is not something I was ever familiar with, and don't wanna start wrecking these Oathsworn models with bad practice so might practice on my old bitz first!

I first painted minis when I got Shadows of Brimstone - painted all of the 2 first core sets. Then I took a 2-3 year hiatus without painting... And started up again when I got KDM. Bought some better paints, painted a few minis but then stopped again. That was like 1-2 years ago. Now if I start up again, all my paints will have separated in their bottles again... 😦

It's weird. My da gave me his old unmarked paints (I assume GW citadel, but never sure), and they must be at least 30 years old, fae the late 80s I guess. They work great so I assume are made with a mix of uranium, poison and toxic lead πŸ˜… I have my own citadel paints fae the 90s and early washes that are still good. Almost everything I bought in the naughties though citadel GW wise has solidified except a few of the older ones in the hexagonal pots with white plastic flip lid. Different mixes mibbies πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Love the writing on the wraps. Did you just make marks, or did you try to write out actual words?

Oooooh, I did add some of those! I should test to see if they make mixing the paint back up a lot easier or not

Otherwise, I'll be tempted to get one of those vortex paint mixers - if I keep up my current pattern of painting a few months every couple years it'll be well worth the money πŸ˜„

I've used a jigsaw with my paint taped to the blade to mix paints, haha. Probably not the safest thing ever, and it's kind of a pain to tape the paints to it every time

I paint better than I photograph. I've tried so many different methods to get good photos. How are you doing yours? Great paint job too!!!

Some quick highlights wont take hardly any time and will really help make these guys pop. Top of shoulders, leather pouch, belt edges, back of boots and tops of weapons. Take you maybe 30 mins to do all 4 I'd bet!

Priming for sure - it's a fantastic tool for getting the priming and zenithil highlighting done. Glazing is another great technique to use with an airbrush.
