    If I must. But I'll get out the old Motorola RAZR, and stand back a metre. ;}

    I'm loving seeing these amazing paintings. I am not even close to that level, having just started painting a couple weeks ago. But its neat to see what I COULD accomplish if I keep at it. The contrast/speedpaints really helped me build some confidence in painting too.

    Yeah, I am excited to see my own progress. I told my gaming group that our starting characters will likely look much worse than the rest. Heh. But I'm currently looking at the Broodmother, and am nervous to start.

    Like wrong approach for the varnish, like the humidity πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ or used primer instead of varnish πŸ˜πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

    Ooof. Spraying primer on an otherwise finished miniature is rough

    Yeah. I’m learning too. Oathsworn is the first game I’ll paint every miniature before it hits the board. I want to play so this has forced me to learn new techniques. The Honest Wargammer YouTube Channel has a video on their Slapchop method. I tried it last night and painted 6 minis to tabletop quality in under 2 hours. They lack the detail of what I’d put into my hero minis but it’s enough to get them to the table and looking good enough for their purpose.

    Well, I'm feeling better knowing how long most of you are taking. I'm probably at around 3 hours each. I also realise I'm very disorganised and inefficient, though I don't know how to fix that. My next purchase will be a wet palette, as I'm struggling to maintain good paint consistency. Apart from that, it's just my inexperience that's holding me back. I generally know what I want, but don't know how to get there. Been watching a ton of tutorials, but still feel lost at times. Like painting black leather, as an example. Completely screwed that up, but don't know how I would've approached it otherwise.

    Wet palette is a game changer, absolutely do that πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

    My first 8 Chars where only the human Oathsworn, to paint em all a little bit simultaneously in my use of colors. U can paint em as slop the same colour used for everyone at the same time, skin, leather, metal and so on, shade the parts at the same time and the highlight them. So u will be 80% ready for ever model in less time. Then u could pick various colours for some contrast, without letting them look like a homogeneous army.

    I've already spent a few hundred bucks on paint, I'm obligated to get good. ;}

    I used to paint Warhammer back in the day--was shit then, too!--but I couldn't find my old paints. Though, they're prolly no good anymore.

    On-going work still, but I subscribe to 'you do you' with theming. I like the idea of having a bit of vibrant neon colour/out of place synthy vibes in this otherwise grim dark setting πŸ‘ I actually started out with a fiery orange in me head then this happened, it went a kitsch cyber-punk pink super quick but am rolling with it πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

    Love it. I like the whole you do you thing too. It would be boring if everyone just copied the art book. Realize your own world.

    Not that I'm gonna adopt a vaporwave colour scheme for my Oathsworn minis, as it would likely ruin the immersion for me, but Dana Howl has some pretty sweet 40K armies.

    Ah nice, thanks πŸ‘ I wouldn't fully immerse/commit myself in Oathsworn, but a lil splash throughout, including terrain, can have an effect for sure. Though I do have a game by Mindclash called 'Perseverance: Castaway Chronicles ' involving all the dino mini's and some very vibrant purples, blues, pinks, yellows etc. Definitely think that game would work well so thanks for the link πŸ‘

    Very nice, love the colours! Think I might buy a few new contrast washes for that project when I start it.

    I used quickshades only on the padded coats (except the yellow one which is contrast paint). 1st time doing so and they came out...OK... Not a technique I would want to use on something I actually cared about.

    I still need to do the bases and I should drybrush and highlight but not sure I am going to. I don't want to put a lot of effort into minis that will ideally never get used.

    Gosh darn it, I didn't want to paint Oathsworn but y'all are giving me the itch for it!
