Are you guys assembling the trees then priming them or doing it separately?

Calling that done sans the rest of armory. Such a cool weapon tho. Why use anything else?

What's that greeny metal that looks exactly like the art?

I tried this a first weapon after chapter one. But my Priest dared to let me change it. He did rather lose his arm than to give his hammer out of hand.

I recommend using paints that are easily applied by using a brush

I mainly use Citadel which was the easiest for me to get hold of, I've also added some Vallejo and Green stuff world paints to my collection as needed

Citadel here, they are readily available here. They have their issues, but still great paints mostly.

I'm happy to have abandoned them. The recent change to their washes was the last holdout I had.

I am open in trying others, but they are not readily available and eh, what I read and see all of the paint lines have their issues. So at the moment have plenty of Citadel paints so I will most likely stick with it.

I normally brush black primer on, but for these big minis I may have to get some spray primer.

Game color has been fantastic. Zero complaints. I just started testing Speed Paints & no issues so far.

Been using the Army Painter speed paints recently and they're pretty awesome. I was just black primer and a few layers of drybrush and being done. I wanted reasonable looking, but not time consuming or fancy. With the speed paints, now I'm doing black primer, a zenithal white primer, then speed paints, and a quick drybrush in a really light color. Sounds like more steps, but most of the time is in that paint section so it's cut me down to about 15-20 minutes per normal sized miniature for the whole process.
