If you've not tried oil washes, that would look great on the tail

It's a cool technique - was kind of scary to try at first, at least for me but it just works. Some great YouTube content out there on how to do it.

What were you thinking of for the edge highlighting of the wounds?

The legs need a bit more glazing

It's important to glaze your legs daily, I heard.

I filled mine with puss so I did green yellow. Yours...you could just do a light brown for fur highlight

Still not sure whether the feathers on the head should go towards red or just dry brush with S75 alchemy

This seems decent, but did you do it with nmm technique? Because you could basically get the same with a contrast, or maybe the pic does not do it justice.

It was my first try at NMM. I agree with decent. I personally don't care for it that much. Would have looked better just doing TMM IMO but the goal was to try something new so 🤷

Agree contrast paint and highlighting would have probably done just as well or better than this hack job 🤣

No one in our group was going to play this guy anyway though I'll likely dip it and do it over later. Want to get better at NMM though so not sure exactly what to do next

I didn't have the 'usual' recipe colors most folks seem to use. Maybe that was part of it ?

I think you just need to add white splashes in areas to show light reflection. That seems to be what a lot of nmm paint tutorials do on the youtubes

agreed - the yellow glaze dulled down the white and I've yet to go back and re-add the pure white. Just not sure it's going to 'get it there'. It's certainly not awful and I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself about it since the goal was to try something new 🙂

It's funny though how you can watch painters do NMM in videos and think - ok yah, I've got this! and then not got this at all 😉

it honestly seems quite complex even though videos make it look fairly easy

I did stumble into finding Richard Gray though by watching NMM videos so that was a nice find -

This is a really good read and the video is excellent. I've seen that one before though failed to bookmark it. Thanks for bumping it in my memory banks 🙂

You need to have a very good understanding of how light interacts with different textures. And I simply don't. Haha.
