I'm experimenting with adding some gray zenithal spray after black prime to increase some brightness, but fortunately gritty dirty fits forest creatures fits too 🙃

I tried that at some point. But didn't notice a difference compared to just white dry brush.

Only thing I'd do more is drybrush some grey over the black fur. Very very light just to give it texture. Then spray some matte varnish to finish it.

Using the SpeedPaint medium also helps dilute

Prime black, (optional light zenithal gray spray), dry brush white, add SpeedPaint and color in the lines of your choice. Profit.

I've used this web gallery to help get an idea of what the color will look like when dry. https://howlcorp.com/colors

12 rats? Paint all 12 tails, then all 48 claws etc etc

There's no real "correct" way, other than what works for you. 🙂

It can admittedly be a tad monotonous at times when like that, but If I know every model is going to have a similar part (a backpack , a claw, a helmet etc) and I'm going to paint it same color, may as well just do them all at once.
