Or maybe I'm just older and less focused

But I would agree, as I know you need to jump from page to page and back.

I am pretty much used to audiobooks, because I listen to them while I paint a lot.

I have a hard time taking in info listening to things. I absorb knowledge better if I can see it and touch it.

True, its better to have both at the same time if you ask me. In our group friend that cant focus only on sound reads it from tablet too.

We used the app for the first scenario but only having it on my phone wasn't the best experience so we've been using the books since then which has been great Only issue was the exploration part and keeping track of the location in the story book while going back and forth with the time track, the journal and putting out the cards

I wasn't a huge fan of this story chapter. We got lost early on and failed some checks (no rerolls). All refugees died and we're starting the encounter with half HP 😅

Maybe I'm just very spatially challenged, but I never really figured out where we were

Doesnt help theres a very specific set of tiles you have to funnel through to get where you need to go, otherwise you are just wandering in a bowl with blocked tiles on all sides

I think it would have felt more interesting if there were more than one way to get to the destination

We somehow stumbled upon the place at turn 19, but it doesn't feel earned

after discovering the waystone and the info contained on it, our group was able to work through the tiles fairly quickly. Id have to go back and verify but I feel like the dashes on the map path correspond well to the tiles and the bridge was exactly where it should be

If you were able to decipher the Warstone then you can triangulate where you're at. Both of my groups figured this out as well without any assistance from me. One group couldn't decide between two waystones that were close together but the path leading away from them produces the same general direction to proceed down. Glad you figured it out!

The story mode throughout has been a pleasant surprise. We’ve played quite a few games that have a sort of “choose your own adventure” element and I honestly expected this to be more of the same. It’s obvious that the story side wasn’t an afterthought and it’s as just as “designed” as the encounter phase

You're absolutely right. The story is just getting moving, you've got a lot to unpack and discover. It is more akin to reading a fantasy novel then a typical board game story.

Questions about Scar Tribe targeting: 1. The Bone Maiden is not adjacent to anyone at the start of the stage card. There are two civilians both 8 hexes away. The northernmost civilian (let's call this one A) is blocked by obstacles, so the actual path would be longer. Does the Bone Maiden still target A even if she can't reach him or would she then target B? 2. If the stage card says move 4 and the Bone Maiden can reach neither, does she still move to target A? What if an Oathsworn is just two hexes away to the south? 3. If the Bone Maiden moves towards a civilian target and cannot reach it in 4, but then ends adjacent to a different Oathsworn, will she attack that Oathsworn even if they're not technically her target? Thanks ahead of time!

    1. She would go after B. The path is calculated including navigation around the terrain. 2. She would go after the Oathsworn if she cannot complete Prey On the Weak. 3. If she cannot reach a target, then she would select a valid target in range. If there isn't a valid target in range at all, she would move to the closest Oathsworn. The Prey On the Weak action is there so that if the Oathsworn are not adjacent to the Scar Tribe they will first choose to go after Civilians. When selecting a target, a Civilian would be top choice, but if there are no Civilians in range then Oathsworn become the new choice for targeting.

The targeting stuff is decided before the movement happens, so you wouldn't have had a situation like #3. She would have targeted the Oathsworn and moved to them rather then the Civilian who was out of range.

If crippled, movement ist also not possible with special abilitys (tree running/preternatural swiftness), correct?

Got an airbrush and tried giving it a Zenithal prime. Used rattle can to prime entire thing black. Then did white directly above real heavy and eased off as I moved down to 45°
