Ah, found the response on BGG. First enemy is removed, the reaction from this is processed with 1 enemy left on board, then last enemy dies. The end.

Played the encounter last night and made fairly swift in-roads whilst saving all the villagers. I enjoyed the "mapping" story mode. Simple but effective. Here's some photos from our session:
