Not necessarily. We were mostly lowering them down, not killing them, we got to stage 3 naturally

    Kaaihn

There was more than one alive in stage 3

Not for long, we started smashing them off the board at that point, but still definitely hit stage 3 with more than one alive

Understandable. In this chapter you stay in stage 2 until you kill 4 Scar Tribe. In this case you would have shuffled the stage 2 deck and drew another card from there.

Ah, dammit. The special rules board does say that, forgot

It happens, this won't be the last time something like this is bound to happen haha

    Definitely not!

Death from Above, line 2, why is Target bolded here, but it’s not anywhere else (except 🗡️ Target instructions)

If Target is bolded, does that mean you redetermine the target for the associated action?

    I didn't even notice that--again, boss related stuff I leave for my friend to handle--but we were killing fools pretty quick. ;}

For example, poisoned spear, do they all choose targets based on the special rule card (oathsworn if adjacent, civilian if not) and move, then based on their new positions, rechoose targets based on current location plus mob rule added in?
  • t

    11/28/2022, 3:21 PM
The target is selected first and then they will move. They won't re-choose a target as this would nullify a lot of reaction cards the Oathsworn have, but there are cards where the same enemy could attack twice. A target is selected for each attack and it could change based on the board state during each attack.

Yeah, reading that card from top to bottom, it doesn't suggest re-targeting.

It normally wouldn’t to me either unless the non bold to bold meant that

So why is target in line 2 of death from above bolded? Seems like it shouldn’t be

This story was such a strange experience. The story so far was to get to Verum, southeast of bastone. For some reason people just couldn't wrap their minds around how the south east path was blocked. We kept assuming we were doing something wrong in the rules with tile placement. We just stumbled around until the time ran out and it shoved us into the village wherever we were. At least we managed to keep one refugee alive. But we started with 9 😕 The suggestion was made that since we couldnt go south east, lets go west and take the long way around based on the map, but it didnt really happen. At least we didnt all die in the swamp, we rolled well enough to avoid that. We did get our feet rather wet though. Maybe it was just our group, I dunno, I wish when Greycane gave us the map he would have reminded us in the narration that the deepwood reclaims roads, remember not all paths are passable

Having said that, I loved the exploration mechanic!

Yeah, my group figured it out too late. Ran out of time.

It’s such a different mechanical system than anyone was used to was the issue. By the time we knew we were applying the rules correctly it was too late do decent in the story. I wish this mechanic was introduced in a story as a play as you go tutorial is all. Just the aspects of put cards out as you move and seeing how the app feeds you the mechanics for a couple moves and an event and another move, then you get to bastone type thing.

But it seems like it will be much used again, and now we know. Not catastrophic. I say that now, not knowing what rewards we are going to miss out on after losing so many refugees to it 😄

Unfortunately, my group has never completed a story portion early enough to collect extra rewards.

We usually get the extra unique item draw

Thanks for that answer. Can I assume that monsters never re-define targets unless explicitly stated? Let's say a melee monster moves towards its target but ends up out of range due to water tiles. Would the monster attack another target that happens to be adjacent to where it ended up?
  • t

It would have just selected the other target since the first that you described wasn't in range

Uuups, we might have misplayed this. I got the impression that monsters disregard effect tiles during the encounter phase due to this sentence: "Enemies will not change their path to move around Effect Tiles and will move through Effect Tiles in their path (Fire, Water) even if it would cause them to lose HP or lose movement" (E, p. 20)

Another question on re-targeting: No re-target if the original target was is already killed by someone else?

Way I’ve been playing, this can’t happen. They activate, decide target, move. All together (well, main monster(s) first, then minions - all do target, move, then when all done, you execute attack).

    12/02/2022, 3:58 PM
I think that can still happen. Let's say two monsters (no Mob keyword) move to the same target. First monster attacks and kills off target. What about the second monster? Does it attack another target if possible or is the attack wasted?

Can you be more specific in terms of when this might come up? I can't think of a situation off the top of my head where mobing wouldn't take place.

I have played only to chapter 4, so I assumed that this might come up. But if all multiple enemy bosses have the mob keyword, maybe this question is indeed irrelevant.
