Earlier today: Doom Eternal soundtrack, fighting elisp code trying to make emacs not auto-suggest me to death in org-mode. Argh.

That main menu song is amazing I never played the new Doom games but damn, Mick Gordon killed it. Sad we'll never get the full release for Eternal though, hate not having it on spotify

So digging through this Twitch leak is eye opening and pretty educational just witnessesing how interconnected Amazon's systems are with AWS and the other subsidiaries. I'm a little surprised at the documentation, I always assumed that their stuff would have thorough details but it's hit or miss for the most part

Something that really sticks out is all the prospects of how Lambda can be used instead of just heresathumbnailgoodbye really neat

I wouldn't say inspired, more like, I'm a noob so this is good insight... probably not from a security standpoint hahaha Edit: actually that's just a super round about way of saying I'm inspired, you win.

Picked up any good tricks? I'm getting into AWS but mostly basic stuff so far, been distracted by Oracle Cloud. And everything else.

I'm trying out a couple of solutions for note taking. I currently use notion. I tried out roam and foam. Roam not being open source and the list based approach I don't like. The block links I like a lot. Foam doesn't have block links. I usually take math notes and for that this kind of cross linking is extremely useful. I read on the github page that Dendron is using Katex as its latex engine. Are macros like "newcommand" also supported?

they do support it according to https://katex.org/docs/supported.html , not sure if it works on md files tho if you want to take math notes I don't think md is a good idea (only good for small math snippets I would say), if you want to do proper math maybe go for latex/handwrite/digital handwriting tools (onenote, xournalpp)

I don't want it to come off the wrong way. I don't prefer free because I want to rip you off but I like open source software better. Why don't you guys have a patreon btw?

I actually prefer markdown based notes for math. The only thing I'm missing really in notion is linking from proofs to theorems/lemmas used in the proofs.

they do have a support page if you want to (which comes with different perks) https://accounts.dendron.so/account/subscribe

I actually tried it an it works. ALthough it displays the command. Importing stuff from other documents like in programming languages would be good, but I guess there is template support

Looking at the source it seems like the rehype-katex(https://www.npmjs.com/package/rehype-katex) package is used in dendron and that supports passing options to katex which in turn has the "globalGroup"(https://katex.org/docs/options.html) option which would enable macros(Like the ones defined here -> https://katex.org/docs/supported.html#macros) to persist between the commands which would be great. It would be great if you could expose this as an option.

Seems like both dendron and notion is using katex for latex rendering and both keeps the "globalGroup" option on default which is false. I mean macros can be defined in both but macros don't persist in either.

Just to give some context. When I read a book I take notes for myself and given that in math books a fair amount of new notation is introduced and used it makes sense to define macros for the most common ones to ease the pain of writing latex commands. Smart clipboards, using some OCR service like Mathpix or some other approach might work too, but I think macros are by far the most efficient.

@User first, welcome to Dendron ๐Ÿ‘‹ for exposing
