I'll look into the extension. thank you! time tracking would be the death of me if I had to do it for my job 😄

PARA users: I'm revisiting PARA at the moment, and the concept makes sense to me. but I have this lingering feeling that the AREA part of it is sorta... weak? loose? The conceptual division of P/A/R and A seems a bit forced to me is what I'm getting at. Is AREA nothing more than a categorization of Projects and Resource?

More a categorization of Projects themselves. I like to think of Areas as pretty unchanging roles/responsibilities in my life that I want to keep making progress on whereas Projects have a defined objective.

I'm getting the same feeling when I learned the MVC pattern in school 😄

didn't expect this to be an out-of-the-box solution anyway. I'll have to tweak how I set it up to my taste along the way.

oh yeah exactly. I think the most useful insight that I saw from PARA was keeping the same heirarchy/structure irrespective of tool is very useful.

I was reading up on people who felt the same about PARA on the web and stumbled upon something called PPV(pillars pipelines and vaults), and I quickly realized it was way too tight for me to adopt 😄 I guess PARA's loose definition of the categories is a GOOD thing.

    Set up PARA

I’ll link my notes later. At a high level, an area deconstructs into related projects.

I don't like PARA. I get the intent, but I feel like there's massive overlap

Projects are time constrained things related to an area. the issue I find is relative to Resources vs Areas.

And actually, reviewing this reminded me of a prior question i had around categorizing scratch notes - scratch notes at least align to /something/

(so, PARA as a mechanism on how to think about information is useful (is this a project or an area and how do things relate) but the division into P / A / R / A I find falls down

I've been using toggl for time tracking. It has reminders, so you don't forget to track your time - It can get annoying (till you learn to ignore it when you aren't really working/wish to track time) Now tracking time when I'm working on client project and ignoring reminder to track time - when I'm not working (like now) is now second nature to me.

I mentioned toggl in my previous comment. It has a feature which will send you an email when it notices "long running" task (That you forgot to stop) But it also has pomodoro built-in, so after 25 minutes (configurable) it starts "Pomodoto Break" task (for 5 mins) and "reminds" you to go back to your previous task after the break is over. It lets you continue the task after 25 minutes as well (Which I do a lot, especially when I'm "in the zone")
