@ichimga git-annex works in the same concept except for all files

i just read the use cases and it sounds amazing. i'm just slowly discovering a whole new side to the internet, so i'm slow at getting my head wrapped around everything. thanks.

I wonder how hard it would be to get todoist-like app working on top of dendron data. That would be immediate 36€/year from me after successful migration :). It's a pain to have tasks in two places.

does todoist have an import api? dendron exports json so it should be just some data mangling to make it work

or better yet, someone could write a todoist pod to provide native support for this 😇 https://dendron.so/notes/66727a39-d0a7-449b-a10d-f6c438185d7f.html

it has, but it would be a bit more involved to get it working back-and-forth in reasonable way + have all the conveniences as part of the vscode experience

something I want to add in the future is a
    sync
    method in addition to
    import
    and
    export
. sync would provide either one way or two-way sync between the source and dendron

tbh, I'd like to use just a single app for all that 😄 . The needs are not hugely complex after all, it's mostly about 1) easy scheduling of tasks, 2) recurrence and 3) fast addition / edits . Trying to make this work with dendron would bring in some issues I haven't really thought through, like how to store comments into a note, where the tasks live, what kind of syntax is supported etc

oh yeah, i totally agree. in this case, i would recommend using todoist as the frontend for task related data in dendron. you could in theory configure a sync job that would scan your files for any
    [ ]
    or
    #todo
    and add them to todoist

Hi, I think I have a larger issue than simply what tool to use to organise a knowledge base. The issue is, I have no clue on how to organise the knowledge base, where to begin, what information to put where. I definitely don't want to be using 10 different methods and tools of saving/bookmarking stuff. 1. Browser bookmark for some links. 2. Google Keep for personal immediate notes. 3. A Notion like software. 4. And there are some others. To be a bit more specific, what I don't know is what to do with a new piece of information, where to save it exactly, in what file "under Dendron, of course". It could be simply a link which point to a #software #opensource #selfhosted. I get I can use tags within the .md file, but I don't know how to set up the hierarchy. I know this is a big question and most likely I'll have to read something about this, but I can't find what I'm looking for on this topic. 😅

@User the meta problem of organizing and making use of a knowledge base is one that we're all struggling with. its something that I want to do more on since it comes up quite a lot. i've started working on an open PKM catalogue to collect best practices and workflows. there's not much there right now but i'm hoping it will 🌱 into a useful guide to help people answer exactly your question https://dendronhq.github.io/catalogue-open-pkm/

Oh nice! I will keep investigating and I need to sit down and think hard about this as well as realizing how to organise everything as I run into different needs.

Does anyone remember Cardfile? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardfile Back when I still had hair (...and I'm only 26) I was obsessed with that app. I'm glad we have slightly less proprietary formats now 😅

@User org mode is the biggest reason for me to try emacs. i don't use it day to day but definitely want to borrow some concepts there into dendron

Gotta say it feels great to be able to just share my notes as pictures/pdfs fairly quick. It's helped alot with a bunch of questions I get didn't think I'd get that much out of that feature while I'm getting ready to publish lol

note ref is the term we use right now. i would check out the link since the changelog is now published on dendron.so and has detailed descriptions of each change 🙂

for note refs, you can now click any part of a header when you run
    copy note ref
to make a reference to the section
