so i've finally managed to sit down and work through dendron's intro guide and this seems to be the perfect compromise between obsidian and hierarchical folders like i've been using. I'm super excited to dig in. Glad to learn about PARA too.

walking the middle ground is kind of what we're about. that and hierarchies 🙂

I've been working on my own reformulation of PARA tonight called AIMS but more or less the same

A= archive I= investigate M= maintain S= system(atize)

so flipping around PARA to A R A P

this is more accurate to what each category does and added benefit of hierarchal spelling order

tbh it's because that's the way it is on my current system

I have a folder that's _ArchivesTemplates

I did think about making archives = storage

but I'm an archivist by training so I don't think of an archive in the same way you do probably

it's not a "dead" folder for me, dead folders get backed up on an HDD in the 3-2-2-1 style

ahh so "Archives" works as a "storage" that stores notes that are haven't processed too?

yes that's a good way of thinking of it! it will also store all my PDFs from Zotero for example

fair point, so many different 'methods' & 'studies' and such going around this year

yeah, i never expected note taking to be as popular as it is

but then again, i've learned that i shouldn't be surprised at anything happening in 2020 at this point... 🤨

personally i hadn't been note taking or learning for so long, after some life events happened. this year is sorta what i needed to get back to my goals, lmao 500 AQI , covid, u name it xD

it's like this year a lot of people came to the realization that evernote & one note are not enough to quick access your notes or stablish relations between them

true. bidirectional linking is going viral this year
