So when people search for Roam they'll find Dendron too?

sounds legit since Roam is getting viral now

Yeah, yeah, how to get Conaw to tweet about Dendron 😁 The message looks kinda contradictory though )

We're like Roam! But the opposite, really )))

But he'll probraly critize dendron if he tweet about dendron 😆

I doubt it, he was really positive about Logseq

    Yep
  • i

but he was totally not about Notion 😆

Yeah, me too. Conor's twitter persona is so loud that every time I tried to open Roam I felt like he was looking over my shoulder)) Then I shudder and close the tab)

I think the point of the notion bidirectional linking thing is will people switch back to Notion if Notion can provide a free, block level bidirectional linking feature?

For me the answer will be no.

My read on Conor is that he thinks he's years ahead of competitors in terms of knowledge management infrastructure and building blocks. So he can be generous and positive to new small tools. And he bashes Notion and Evernote for not getting things right despite their budgets and many developers.

@User dendron is roam, anti-roam and everything in between 🙂

as much as I like to wear a pure engineering hat, marketing matters and building it doesn't mean anyone will come

I get what you mean)) But to my cursory glance the combo looks a little desperate. (I know nothing of marketing))

    > he bashes Notion and Evernote for not getting things right despite their budgets and many developers. True, the point is, what's "right"? Different note taking apps have different purposes and visions. Notion wants to put everything together, Evernote, as the most representative "old generation" note taking app, trys to chase up and get back in the market. I think Conor can't define what's right or wrong for note taking approaches that's different from his.

What's right is what lets you combine, remix and query blocks of content in flexible ways (if I get him right)

if that's the case, i don't think there are any special of Roam, Obsi or can do this as well

if you want "Block referencing", logseq will be great too
  • i

    09/18/2020, 9:09 PM
But I don't quite get about why he's positive towards Logseq
  • k

    kevins8

    09/18/2020, 9:09 PM
logseq promotes the same style of referencing that roam does
  • k

    kevins8

    09/18/2020, 9:10 PM
its essentially an open source version of roam
  • k

    kevins8

    09/18/2020, 9:10 PM
at the end of the day, roam will probably be the best at creating a roam like experience so all note taking apps that promote being roam-like are really playing into the roam ecosystem in the long run
  • k

    09/18/2020, 9:12 PM
this is why dendron is not trying to compete with roam on roam's feature set but on our structured approach of managing notes
  • i

    imalightbulb

    09/18/2020, 9:13 PM
agree, looking up notes is too easy in dendron using the hierarchy
  • i

    09/18/2020, 9:14 PM
like i have more than 100 notes in dendron you know (that's not too many compare to @User )
