just like Obsidian, it's definitely about writing things, and organizing those writings. Dendron's main claim to fame is that it is hierarchical, meaning knowledge always exists somewhere in a hierarchy. you can think of it like a branch.
    ├── journal
    │ ├── journal.heres-some-journal
    │ └── journal.some-other-journal
    ├── philosophy
    │ ├── nihilism
    │ ├── absurdism
    │ └── ethics
i'm not sure if this makes the most sense. but essentially notes in dendron have a context, that is they sit somewhere in a hierarchy. just like a tree. the best way to learn though is probably by doing, and the tutorial would be a good start! i also came from obsidian 🙂

i'd say one of the best values you can also add is what you personally like about obsidian, or why you came to it and if dendron allows for the same type of flow that you like with obsidian (or better). maybe there are things dendron could improve and do better. it's great to have a fresh perspective on things.

working with tables is really annoying, especially if they're wide. I'd rather not work with them 😭

I use git/GitHub also, have some stuff on GitLab. Have been just using
    Workspace: Sync
    command, and GitJournal on mobile.

As a newcomer from Obsidian, I've been searching the docs for two days and haven't managed to figure out how to enable
    Workspace: Sync
. Can anyone point to a definitive guide?

@kevins8 do you use ripgrep instead of native vscode search in the UI? i think that uses ripgrep under the hood. i've never really.. used command line searching utils, but wondering if there's any advantages you can speak on? wondering because i'm thinking of how i don't like that vscode search just defaults to searching my whole workspace. theres probably a regex i can use but i was thinking id like to really just scope down to searches to particular directories.

i use vscode search with filters (you can regex filter the search). it does use ripgrep under the hood

Anyone wish their command palette was bigger to account for long Dendron hierarchies? Please go provide your support https://github.com/iocave/customize-ui/issues/156, hit the 😕. I show an example below how I use Custom UI extension with my long dendron names.

VSCode allows you to scope the search (the option to show the extra fields is under the '...' menu on the right

It seems the expanded state is remembered for subsequent searches.

I did catch a release note that said something about "localized to my project folder"-style vaults have become the default i think? If so, can these vaults be linked to from a centralized "garden of knowledge" vault (or, imported to it when work on a project is done?)

Hey. Not sure where I can post my question, but I feel that I can somewhere:) I'd like to have a tool to make some kind of a snapshot (?) of my OS. For example, I have freshly installed Ubuntu or Windows and I want to be able to record all file names, paths and file attributes. After that, I install some app and make another snapshot. If I compare two snapshots, I can see what files was affected by the installation process. Does anyone know where to dig?

Does anybody do ‘incremental learning’ in dendron? I just discovered it from reading about Anki and SuperMemo. I was wondering that dendron could be quite an interesting place to do such a thing. I think (coincidentally) there is a tool called dendro that does such a thing.

    https://youtu.be/dSjSdH-8VBc▾

. To be clear I don’t think dendron and dendro have anything to do with each other. I create flashcards in dendron and then send them to anki but incremental reading, seems like the next level.

spaced repetition I have seen used for languages from foreign to programming. The main tool I used was anki but the repetition and filtering (only certain dendrites) could be added if you can handle the math(s)
