Non Citrix question: What softwares/tools do you use for your server inventory? For example, server1, who is the owner, which team is responsible for it, any notes on that server deployment etc.. To capture all this information do you use any software or is it the standard excel application for it?

I would imagine the answers to this question will vary depending on the size of the organization. Excel might be fine for small businesses with a <500 assets, but beyond that you can start to see value in commercial software with more bells and whistles. For my org, we have near half a mil assets. ServiceNow CMDB is where everything is stored. Its integrated with many other SN modules (helpdesk, change mgmt, etc). That said, we have a ton of home grown automation feeding it.

Same, we use both SNOW and an in house app for these purposes.

Open-audit is decent and free although I haven’t used it in a looong time
