So with all the new additions to the HDX and RDP protocols, such as UDP, TURN/STUN, Reducer v4. Is there a new bakeoff between RDP and HDX online anywhere? I have a customer interested in seeing things such as bandwidth utilization, security features, etc etc.

Another request. Had a customer's security team decide, on their own, to go with SSL.COM entrust certificates for their renewals from entrust. Problem is, most machines and devices don't have the updated ssl.com intermediate certs and so they aren't trusted on almost everything. Anyone have a good process for deploying intermediate and root certs to non-domain machines? GPO is going to get all the Windows domain machines, and UMOS is handling the IGELs. But what about public machines? Anyone else gone down the rabbit hole of better cert management?

I am working with my customer on rolling out Windows 24H2 within their VMware Horizon 8 22.12 / 2312 instant clone environment. We are seeing an issue with Windows explorer crashing. Specifically when a user opens an explorer windows, clicks through a few directories, and then presses the back button, the back button stops working. If we close out all the windows and open them back up, the back button works. Has anyone run into this issue before?

for those of you still using redirected folders, how do you avoid explorer throwing a UAC prompt and adding your account under security permissions when you go to look at a users folder?

anyone ever run into issues migrating redirected folders where the metadata in the files get read and used to populate the usershellfolders registry keys instead of Group Policy? I've never seen it before, but if I blow away the profile and have it recreate, the redirected folder locations are still set to the old location. Apparently windows will set it to what it sees in the location metadata which can include the previous location. I'm going to try copying the files again with no metadata and see if it still does it.

Hello, we have deployed a non-persistent VDI infrastructure on Windows 11 24H2, but we are currently experiencing an issue with the search bar in the taskbar: the menu opens, but we are not getting any response from it. We have tried rebuilding the search index and setting up a user GPO to prevent internet searches. We have also tried repairing the appX Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience | Reset-AppxPackage Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience | Reset-AppxPackage Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS | Reset-AppxPackage

So with Carl Stalhood's approval I have been working to mix his documenation with my documentation into a new site that will be managed and maintained by multiple engineers for updates. We have moved from Wordpress to Azure Static Pages on Github for easier documentation with markup documents. We removed some of the older documentation that is out of support, and will be working to add more information with upcoming releases. Go ahead and take a look, see what you think, and let me know what you think we should focus on first. https://docs.jeffriechers.com

Anyone ever seen an issue like this? I've got some Windows 11 MCS-provisioned machines that when booted up, Group Policies appear to be applied (in that gpresult shows them as applied, and the correct Registry values exist). However, in the user's session, they don't apply (background is incorrect, logon screen is incorrect, App-V not working, etc.). What is weird is if you reboot the worker in vCenter (not Studio), the policies all appear correctly in the session at next logon. I've been trying to work this one out in my head and can't fathom it out. If I apply one of the settings (e.g. the logon screen) to the master image directly (as in, bake in the settings), then it works OK at first logon. But it's not really feasible for us to start baking the entire set of GPOs into the master image, that's going to kind of defeat the object of having policies. Anyone seen an issue like this before?

Posting this here for greater visibility: Anyone have a good PS script or module to pull GPO settings into a CSV/Excel document? I have been using SDM's module, but it's not great for registry preferences, as it puts every single part of one preference onto a new line, so comparing hundreds of preferences becomes a chore.
