Do you need to join them to the domain at all? Could let MCS handle that for you and leave non domain joined for build assuming app installs don’t require domain

So MCS can work either way. It can join during new vm creation and unjoin during replacement?

MCS does not require master to be domain joined. So it just depends on the requirements of the software in your image.
