Is anyone doing UEFI installs of XenServer? Do you have a guide handy?

The NAS are ok if you’re only doing storage. If you’re looking for something 24/7 that can run other stuff (like plex) then you I’d suggest a traditional server with a bunch of drives and something like RockStor (or equivalent)

I use an old two-drive NAS as a backup for my bigger system

@User Both Qnap and Synology NAS can run all kinds of apps as well as storage. My Qnap runs Plex great, and as a container, not a full app. Basically, they are Linux servers with drives bays and filer software. You can apt-get just about anything.

but my point is more the memory and CPU behind the system rather than the app

You’re not going to be transcoding video streams well on an ARM or crappy CPU

Agree, but if you look at the specs of some of the NAS, specifically Qnap, you'll see they make units that are fine for encoding. But, it's all about what you wnat to use it for. I do encoding on my laptop and just stream from the NAS. To each his own.

exactly. my only point is take a look at some of the projects, you may find yourself being a part of them. For example, I actually am just helping with docker containers run on the platform (through a yaml file). Pretty simple stuff honestly but others need documentation help. Getting some action on github is an awesome feeling. everyone remembers their first merged pull request!

guys, I have a question for you. I have a single domain controller on my environment running on my hyper-v. I powered everything down to move my equipment to my new rack and guess what.. My DC doesn’t want to boot up. I can mount the VHD and browse it. Is there a way to move the nds.dit files over to a new server so I don’t have to rebuild my domain controller and rejoin all the servers to the domain?

    No secondary domain controller (BDC)?

So I have a Synology DS214, luckily it is not ATOM processor. Will it be faster to share files out of my Windows 2012 R2 Server with 1 NIC? This server is also my hyper-v server, so I'm considering rebuilding this server as Windows 2016 Hyper-V and share the files out of Synology
