The GPU in the Skull is nice, but not required for my lab/training/demo case

so I guess I can get away much cheaper with the NUC 6th Gen, 7th Gen i7 is still not available.

And excuse my French, the XenServer is to slow anyway compared to the other HV

so I think spending lots less on 6th Gen will make sense in terms of $$$ because I can replace in 2-3 years with all 10Gpbs

What do you guys think?

for me the skullwas too expensive for CE because i wanted to build a four node cluster and have some decent storage capacity, thats why i went with the hybrid 6th gen nucs. the missing 4core was not a big issue for me until now. would be interesting to know if AHV and also CE will support iris pro in the near future. no idea, but probably the will start with nvidia support only.

So what's the 80/20 use case of the portable kit

E.g. I use mine for demos so I have 1 sk purely for hdx3d demos

The rest are 6i5s for space and cost

Aim at the needs of the 80% use cases

For the 1% ones add what you don't have temporarily

Btw don't do the compare on empty shells do it max ram and disk in each apples to apples

how could I forget @User @dready indeed 80/20. 80% is for my master class where each students will content to their own XenServer host and do their hands on labs

the 20% is me doing some Nutanix CE stuff in between

so then it's NUC 6th Gen

until we get 10Gpbs all over and can get some greater hardware 2-3 years from now

So I guess I go with 512 or 1TB of storage, guess 1TB because UniDesk will require 300GB of its own

or 2 x 1TB

Will do, but wanna do 1x 512/1TB 2,5" & 1x 256/512 NVMe M2 for doing Nutanix CE SDS & Atlantis. I'm both NTC & ACE so need 2 blog some stuff around this stuff which is HOT!!!

Doubt Nutanix will support Iris

I would honestly do the xeon d so you have the power and more ram if needed

You can always do a custom config in smaller case

For the xeon d

And yes agree on xenserver being slow to hv

Xeon d in sce200 case if you only doing 1 sata drive & nvme

Go 64gb ram and expand later if needed

You can buy extra fan for case if needed
