My latest project. Cheaper than a mini-split and offers spot cooling for your server rack using a duct adapter.

How did you price the mini-split?

Commercial cost was 2x-3x price of buying direct/wholesale site.

@Jarian Gibson Through an HVAC tech that came out. He said around $4000 installed for a mini-split. I priced it myself and a good Mitsubishi unit is $2000 so basically he wanted $2000 for the install and running lines. This portable unit was $490.91 shipped. I need to get an extended warranty for $150 because they are prone to failure around the 16 month mark. So total is $640.41. I chose it over something from Home Depot because it's made for this type of usage. It's a 12,000 BTU unit, no draining required, has an adapter to fit a duct and then point that onto hot spots in the server rack, restarts with the same settings you had before after a power failure, and the hose connectors fit really tight so no air leaks. You can exhaust out to the ceiling or out a window. Comes with everything you need. So far it's cooling the room down to 72 F per my in rack temp sensor and that's without the spot cooling duct on it. Granted my side panels are off right now, need to pop those back on later and check. The exhaust is pushing out at 100.5 F per a laser thermometer. Kill-a-watt is showing 1158 watts being used. https://www.tripplite.com/smartrack-12000-btu-120v-portable-air-conditioning-unit-small-server-rooms-network-closets~SRCOOL12K/

This foil tape is freaking awesome btw. Helps seal all the ducts. The HVAC guy gave me some. I can't find it on Amazon but Home Depot sells the Nashua brand of foil tape which probably works just as well for $7.88. Definitely recommend picking some of this up and keep it on hand for stuff. It doesn't stick to your fingers and allows you to shape it to a certain degree. Then it just bonds to itself. I've never used a tape quite like this so its hard for be to describe. You just have to use it and kind of feel the difference vs. regular tape. This just feels clean when you use it.

The HVAC guy that came and vented out my portable AC unit used that stuff. Works very well.
