lol all the intercom stuff got me thinking

i have a unifi camera already so bought a uap-edu

will mount over my door. it's a covered area and bonus will be wifi for front yard lol

and can turn uap on/off when needed

ios app gives me intercom access

If you do not need reliable thruput its definetly OK. For FullHD camera stream maybe not enough though

Sorry, late to the discussion... WiFi doorbells?! I just got a door bell with a battery that uses some RF band and lets you mount the chime anywhere within a reasonable distace (somethinglike 100 ft). The door bell just sticks to the wall or door with adhesive.

Mine isn't the chime, it's more of i'm in my office and office is 200 ft from house

I have a camera that will notify me on motion, but want to way audio

which I think I have all covered now

200 ft is too far for such a setup, so your solution makes sense. Plus no more trench work, eh? 🙂

i have smaller rack with internet links and management in my house along with a switch for poe devices like cameras and wifi.

then have two fiber runs between house and office

each cable end connects to 3 sfp+ modules. with 2 cables i have 6 sfp+ modules on each plugged into this - https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-switching/unifi-switch-16-xg/

Way cool. I trust Ubiquiti also makes SAS cable connections? Probably cheaper as a source than Dell.

I'm using the SFP+ cable from the beta store for my QNAP-10GB switch connection, working well.

Any of you have experience with GPS trackers for younger kids? I know @Jarian Gibson was asking for his mom and I've found the gps enabled watches which might be a good fit

Problem with those is charging and it requires a person to remember to put it on. For driving age folks hard wiring a phone with a tracker app is easier, setup and forget. For children/pets I've looked into the commercially available solutions and none of them hold a charge for days on end. If you guys find one that can lmk.

@Kees Baggerman i like the ones verizon uses the gizmo lines, wish they were smaller but work.
