Ugh, just spent for RAM and a new 10g switch. Got to save up a bit and grab the NAS next month.

The UniFi Mesh APs are good. Not as strong as the AC Pros but really good if you don't have wired uplinks all over the place. Wireless adoption and provisioning is a little slower than wired but they came up fine. You can go in and choose the uplink APs. The only annoying thing is you can't tell a client to prefer a specific AP. I've ordered one more AP next week to fill a dead spot. I'm really liking having 2 cloud keys. I was able to reconfigure an AP's uplink at dinner with ease when I noticed another had a better signal. I wasn't going to get a USG for this setup but having gotten used to my own and the throughput total on the dashboard I think I'll add one here. This stuff sure does add up quick.

@Jason Samuel I have used them. I actually use one of them as my mgmt PC for my traveling kit. They are ok. mine is a little smaller, 2GB/32GB and came with Windows home so I can't even join it to the domain and it think it is a celeron or i3 processor. It gets the job done. We used them at our office to control the TV on our service desk, but since we wanted to managed them with domain, etc we replaced them and I grab one for my traveling kit.

@User Thanks. This should work fine for my needs. I just need a decent box to install some network tools on and leave running at this remote site so I can use it as an admin box.

I looked at different options, including just building my own. The problem is that costs big $$$ 😞 I am concerned about the QNAP actually being able to keep up
