Hey! Can anyone tell how they are working on capability building of the HR team? as I feel HR is the most neglected function when it comes to capability building or say coaching and mentoring as we keep doing it for the business only.

I agree and would like to seek help on this too

@Vithika Tiwari, some options that I typically suggest to clients: • open programs by reputed companies such as KPMG, Aon, etc. • Hiring consultants to internally diagnose key learning needs and provide customized options • Asking people to self-enroll for courses and reimbursing the fee once they complete successfully • Co-creating curriculum with universities or educational institutes (applicable to large companies) • Ongoing coaching and mentoring that can be independent or a part of all the above solutions

What's worked well for me... Cross pollination among the people team. Understanding the long term aspirations of team members and letting each other work with each other (with guidance) to enhance actual work exp. In doing this, those who need further coaching & new skill dev, take up courses in their own (reimbursed) and come and implement learnings. You can't force this, those who want to learn, learn on their own - you have to help them along the way.

Thank you 🙂

This is what worked for me - 1. Work with the individuals to create a growth road map. this captures what skills they want to build, experiences they want to gain. This helps us work specifically on identifying projects that would help build the skill & gain the experience. 2. Identify mentors from business and have a regular connect that helps them grow.
