Stacker Customers

The charts are limited, but if your data is in AirTable there are quite a few workarounds. There are AirTable extensions you can use for visualization. Alternatively, you can sync AirTable with Google Sheets and create charts in Google Sheets. You can also integrate AirTable with Google's Looker Studio (free BI software!), and a plethora of other BI softwares available online.

Thanks <@U04D49C64CX>. I just recently found Looker Studio and have enjoyed it so far. Do you think having a significant amount of graphs embedded into stacker will cause issues down the road? Good day!

<@U02N243SXCK> Since you're embedding an external source (a Looker Studio dashboard) into Stacker, that embedding will rely on a connection between the two--a connection that has to be established upon page-load every time. So if you have a ton of dashboards embedded into one page in Stacker, then yes it will probably slow you down a good bit. But if your dashboards are on separate pages, it won't make much of a difference since each page in Stacker would only have one dashboard :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey <@U04D78LPJ23>, it is possible to duplicate an app that is only Airtable data.  The new base would need to be the same set up (fields need to be the same or the layout will break in the new app).  The app can also be moved to a new account (there are a few requirements here). Yes, once you have them set up you can make changes. We recommend using a duplicate of your original base so you can edit records and fields without effecting the original.

Keep in mind that the cloning tool is an internal beta, and your mileage may vary.

How can I disallow a user from moving an item from one column to another while still allow them to change the status when clicking on the button?

I don’t see the option “read only” anymore, I could swear there was one option for that. Is it gone? Feels like a bug.

I think you got your answer via support, but in case others see this - if you want to enable dashboards for a workspace (our beta charts functionality) just write to support and they'll help

Sorry for the confusion. Stacker Users (belonging to one or more current, non-legacy/classic workspaces) are global and have the ability to switch between any workspaces they have access to.

Perhaps try to have them hard refresh their page - that should do the trick

• Chrome, Firefox, or Edge for Windows: Press Ctrl+F5 (If that doesn’t work, try Shift+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R).
• Chrome or Firefox for Mac: Press Shift+Command+R.

There's still a way to set the fields that display in a list without any records in the datagrid. If you click on the Edit layout (paintbrush) icon, you can choose which fields you want to display.

I appreciate you can't visualise that data without a record, but I think the best thing to do there is add in one temporary record to see how it looks.

While Sign in with Google is available in Stacker’s authentication system, any kind of managed identify provider situation would require SSO through Auth0 (either as the IdP or connecting to another), which is only available on the Enterprise plan. <@U02GED15Z2L> One other thing I've noticed is that iframes sometimes don't display correctly when you're viewing it as an admin under the workspace domain (<http://yourcompany.stackerhq.com|yourcompany.stackerhq.com>) but if you view it as a user using your app domain (<http://appname.my|appname.my>.<http://stacker.app|stacker.app>) they display correctly. This is the case with me when trying to display Google Maps in an iframe.

Our use case is that our Stacker app is used for creating quotes for customers and then we have a customer portal for the customer to see their proposal.  What we want to do is notify the agent who did the quote when a customer has visited the page with the quote.  Our external customers access our portal with a magic link which we email to them.

Well, the second link (Subscriptions) might do exactly what you need, it’s a good starting point I believe, for you.

We did but it only has Airtable and Hubspot as sources, not destinations. Saying it differently, Sequin is just an ETL (Saas to Warehouse) but we need (1) either ETL + reverse ETL (Saas to warehouse and warehouse to Saas) or (2) point to point (Saas to Saas). 

Really interested to hear in how you find Polytomic, I know a few HubSpot users who'd like to know more.

Do you have an idea of Polytomic's pricing? I see it starts at $500 a month, but would be keen to understand what that gets you.

It really depends on a lot of factors, as, for one example, you could compare a fairly “simple” app with a much larger number of records to one with a “small” number but a lot of lookups, scripting, etc. that performs worse as a result. I couldn’t really recommend one thing over another, as each has pros and cons, which can matter more or less depending on the specific context.

You could try using our own Stacker Tables for your use case, as there isn’t a hard limit. However, with above 50k you may run into some issues and 100k+ would most likely not be very usable due to the load — but again, a lot of it depends on how the app is built, data in structured, and how much processing needs to be done in general.

Most of our customers find that they only need a small portion of records in their apps for active usage, and either Stacker Tables, Google Sheets, or Airtable (their Enterprise plan allows up to 250,000 records) could work.

So my question (in response to yours — sorry!) would be: Do you really need that many records in the app? I’d also be curious as to why. I’m not sure that any off-the-shelf low/no-code solution would handle that well, especially compared to something custom-built (since structure and performance could be optimized according to specific needs).

<@U024WBD010S> There is indeed no silver bullet for this issue. Many businesses need  to eventually store more than 50-100k records, and the tradeoffs depend on the business. Each case is different.

The Airtable Enterprise plan is the easiest upgrade, but doesn’t always solve the issue, as there is still a limit of records *per table* (50k, or 100k, I believe they’ve increased it recently).

The flexibility to adjust objects to be the width and height you want without doing any extra steps would be great!

For now, you can use Custom CSS to change the height and width of widgets, these are classes and selectors not created by Stacker so they can change at any time. You can find find various classes of objects on the page by Right clicking and selecting Inspect, then hovering over the object you wish to adjust.

<@U02R50CHQ4R> Great shout! The main reason is that Charts are in a beta, MVP state. We plan to revisit them to provide more flexibility, but I don’t have an exact timeline.

What url did you use for the youtube video?

I removed the iframe related text and started with http… so just the stripped down URL with the start frame appended. Actually tried the other way too (full embed) w/o success. By that I mean the video appears in the embed field but it does not start at the intended/targeted frame.

It’s not something Stacker supports currently, but I’ll bring it up with the team. I remember when YouTube got rid of the option to start at an arbitrary time code, but didn’t realize they’d introduced a new way of doing it. Thanks for bringing it up! :)

You can set up a filter to decide when users should be treated as active, though this only works if you don’t have open signup turned on.

1. Create a field in Airtable that will serve to show whether the user should be active or inactive
2. Make sure the field is synced and enabled in Stacker
3. In Stacker, go to Manage Users &gt; Cog icon
4. Set up the *Users can access if* filter to use the new field

Can you clarify what you’re envisioning? We’re using Google Cloud Platform, which handles redundancies, both for connectivity and storage, so what you seem to be describing would be a non-issue (i.e. your workspace/apps are not saved on a NAS in the office).

So I’m interested to understand what sorts of challenges you’re envisioning, and what sorts of solutions are needed — existing or in the future.

If we had to restore an Airtable base from a snapshot it would be "restored" into a new table with new IDs, etc - This would then need us to spend considerable time (I presume) setting back up all forms, list views, customisations, etc within Stacker.

I wanted to know if there was a way to backup the configuration of Stacker views, forms, etc that would expedite this process should the worst happen.

Hmm. That’s interesting. So, I will double check with the team, but I’m fairly certain that it wouldn’t pose any problem for Stacker as long as the schema remains the same — which sounds to be the case from your description.

Deleting a data source in Stacker and setting it up again, even with the same schema, would result in any layouts being lost. But it’s relatively common for customers to replace an existing Airtable connection with a new one using the same schema (duplicating into a new base), thus preserving all the work they’ve done on the app in Stacker — only the destination is different.

Just a quick followup here: Ultimately, it would depend on the specifics, as it isn’t exactly clear what would be “restored” in the scenario presented. I am also curious as to the “why”, regarding “If we had to restore an Airtable base from a snapshot” — trying to understand the situation you’re imagining, its cause, etc.

One option would be to add data into the existing tables. Adding/replacing tables could result in layouts being lost, whereas if you just change data within a table that would be no problem.

The most common I see are Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, and folks come up with a lot of other creative stuff. :)

I have one script that I use in my stacker app for connecting Google Business Profiles to their corresponding record in airtable. I have the script stored on our main website and then I have the url to the file saved as an airtable field. 
So when the ‘custom scripts’ setting says to “send your scripts over to us and we will add them to your app” how would I then use the script on a particular page or view on stacker? 

Scripts can be setup as “run once” or “run per page change”. I’m not sure which would be appropriate, as it depends on how you have things setup in your script.

<@U03RT7UAPPU>, do you have on the roadmap the ability to include scripts ourselves? (i.e. without having the process of reaching out to you?)

Also, if not, I assume it’s fine if a script link is shared with you and then the contents of the link change? Or do you make a copy and lock it the moment you get the file?

I’ve built integrations where I automatically sync the current user data with another system, mostly for CRM. Maybe that’d interest you.

It should be pretty straight forward, but if you reach out to support we can provide some guidance.

It is already possible for you to know that if your user’s workflow lead to updating data, like filling in some fields, because then you can watch whenever those fields are being updated, and consider the user has logged in.

But this is an edge case, that won’t necessarily work for all apps. (some apps don’t *allow/expect their user to update anything*, and in those case that’s where this alternative integration could come in handy.

I have an app where students need to fill in their profile, but if they don’t do it, I can’t know if they’ve logged in and didn’t like it, or if they didn’t even bothered. And maybe that difference is super important for your business, that’s what I’m trying to solve.

AT can do that with the dedicated extension. Then to bring it into stacker, you can try embeding.

Hello - here is the update. It took a little while, but Airtable responded to my support request today and after reconfirming that I am aware of the security risk of public links, enabled the feature.
